questions about d16a1
ok im about to get this fresh but very stock d16a1 motor and want to build it but idk where to start i want a min of 220 whp but idk lol let me know what all you who have delt with this motor let me know what my options are... and its going into my ed6
also i had a zc before i put this d15b8 in my ed6 and just put the mounts form the zc on the d15 so cant i just use those mounts again ??? let me know i thought the d16a1 and the zc were the same thing
D16A1 is out of a 1g 'Teg if I'm not mistaken, those are only direct swaps (more or less) into a 1g/3g CRX/Civic. I did the same thing a while ago thinking it would bolt up. Nope, just sell the engine and move on.

you have to make a custom engine side mount, and also you have to grind the inside of the bell housing where the flywheel goes in order for the starter to have clearance to turn over. also, only one starter bolt will go in. and as for the ecu(pg6) is the best to use. probably the hardest parts for you to find will be the dizzy and CAS, unless you buy them new.
this is the driver's side mount on the D16A1 - on the front side of the engine (on the left in the picture):

this is the driver's side mount on the DOHC ZC - comes thru the middle of the timing belt cover:

the D16A1 block has no bolt holes needed to install the mount on the end - you must fabricate a new mount that wraps around the end

hey u right man u can put the stock mounts but only the driver side mount 1 screw will bolt in but the othr one u have to make the hole so it can bolt onto the motor mount but theres no problems with 1 bolt on..i had it on mine for a month nothing happened but i made a homemade mount which is makin the hole bigger and gettin a washer and that all really easy oh and tthe starter gots to be a flat tip no round ones and then u good to go
