Head possibly cracked....where to get new one??
Well, after all is said and done, it appears my head is cracked. Ill get definite word later today confirming yes or no. Basically I need to know where I can get another one other than Honda, if need be.
The car has no warranty since its salvaged. What causes the head to crack? Can torqueing down the head studs crack the head? Other reasons? Basically I need to find out if it was cracked by the shop doing the work, or if it was like that beforehand. The head gasket DID NOT leak before work was done, it HAS NOT been driven since the work was done, and now its dripping out the front on the distributor side. It has been taken apart and put together 3 times since and unable to fix the leak. Im hoping I can place blame on the shop and make them pay for a new one, but its gonna be tough to prove.
I should have left the car alone and now I am kicking myself for trying to build it up.

Nope and if someone is trying to bend you over for a used head (close to a G) you'd be better off buying a used one.
Im finding a few used ones here and there for 350 and up, depending what it comes with(valvetrain, IM, etc). I really just want a bare one so I can send it out. I already have all the other **** needed.

MAke sure what ever used bare head you buy comes with ALL the cam caps. They are useless without them.

BTW, still havnt found out if its cracked for sure or not. And I was supposed to get on the dyno today to tune the AEM!!!
Getting it magnafluxed...i guess it has to sit overnight and we will know tomorrow. the amount of frustration that is built up inside is unreal right now. im so fed up with this whole ******* deal.
good news, dont need a new head. They found a 3 thousands(.003) variance on the left hand side of the head so they had to plane it level again. They didnt want to do that to begin with because the clearance with the JUN3s and CTR pistons. So things are gonna be cuttin it close now but should be ok. Any idea if planing the head is gonna increase the compression ratio? or is the planing so minute that it wont make a difference?
