1999 Accord F23A auto tranny
My sister and her family have a 1999 Accord EX with F23A and auto trans. The tranny is starting to go out as the car has well over 200K miles. The engine is still good.
I am not an Accord expert, but have lots of Honda experience in general.
If we find a used auto tranny, are we stuck with the 98-02 F23A auto trans? Are there any other auto trannies that would also work such as the 94-97 Accords?
What about the F23A auto trannies I see that are shipped from JDM land? Do these historically have any issues with them?

Hmm... although i feel confident that any F-series (excluding F20C) transmission, auto or manual will bolt up to the engine. as for working rightly with the other components, namely the PCM.. i think you're constrained to the 98-02 year range 4cyl.
a JDM sourced auto box is something i wouldn't have thought of. assuming it would work fine (has all the same sensors and connectors) i don't know if there would be any benefit, cost-wise or design-wise to justify the effort.
on top of all of that, a used one is a bit of a gamble. My opinion- if you're able but unwilling to install a new/reman-ed transmission from H&A (OE dealer service parts provider i believe) into this car, then it's best to get rid of that model and buy something '03 or newer.
