I have 2002 Accord LX. Its got 103k miles. Its an automatic. i have some problems with it which i think are transmission problems but i would like a second opinion or more before i drop 1,200 bones on a new one.

1. after driving for about 10 minutes the car seriously hesistates and jerks when i am in the first gear and barely moving (not stopped) when i give it gas.

2. the car hestitates and will not shift into gear from stopped position. it waits untill RPMs are at 3k rpms then i will start to move.

3. A week after problem 2 happened then the check engine light came on and stayed on.

I know a tiny tiny bit about cars and to me this seems like my tranny is going bad or is dead. I won't drive it anymore cuz i dont want the sob to seize up on me. The transmission hasnt been serviced since i got the car but that was only since last September from a dealership. I dont want to pay a mechanic to just look at it for me.

Did you not have the check engine light scanned? Something tells me its code is going to tell you what's wrong..............

 

Have you checked the fluid level in the transmission?

I have not had the check engine light scanned for codes.

The tranny fluid is at the max level.

Thanks for the articles. I dont think i could run the diagnostics myself.

Problem 1 had been happening for about 6 months. Although it was kind of annoying i could deal. But after 6 months problem 2 started happening and everhthing started going down hill. I check the fluid levels pretty regularly so i knew it wasnt due to vehicle maintenance that this was happening. I bought it used so who knows what the previous owner did to it. it seems like he raced it or something because the rest of the car works just like new.

if the car is jerking ur trans is done as the clutch packs are slipping
