Default Tranny Q (especially for all using hasport billet mounts with b16)

Did all of you bang out your rear crossmember? We didnt, and I'm wondering if it is the cause of my "clunky" shifting. The trans stops the shifter for a second before going into ANY gear, I've never had a 100% clean shift. I'm wondering if it affected the angle or anything that the trans is on. I don't know, I'm just guessing at this point.

Another weird thing is after I drive the car for about 30 mins straight, it likes to completely reject me out of gears occasionally. I have to double or triple clutch to allow a downshift.

These 2 problems may or may not be related. I have a y1 w/lsd, Honda MTF. Using stock SiR shift linkage, sits a little deep at the shifter, but doesnt seem to have any clearance problems.

I massaged the rear cross member when I did my swap and it is fine. Never had a problem with shifting. I am using a hasport shift linkage as well. It might be the linkage but I am not really sure.

i believe the SIR linkage may be the problem. in japan they run a different subframe, and also the motor sits in a different spot. you may want to try cutting and lengthening yours, try a single cam shift linkage with integra ends first. (i would hate to cut up a nice SIR piece. )

hmmm..yeah, I always thought it was weird that the SiR one worked. We test fit it to see how much we would have to cut and weld, but it bolted right in and seemed like it would work fine. If anyone is going to the meet on saturday, you can see for yourself.

I am using a SiR linkage in my EF with B16. Shifts great. BTW, I also used HaSport mounts and didn't bang the rear cross member at all.

maybe you really dont have an SIR linkage.. or maybe you do and its from a 5th gen hatch and not a 4th gen crx/civic?

if your not afraid of cutting/welding your linkage, you might want to try it, it sounds like your linkage is bent or a little too long somewhere..

if you try cutting/welding, get some 3/4" threaded piping (home depot has a 4 ft section for like 10 bucks) and cut out the sections in like 2-3 inch chuncks, when you cut the linkage to re-fit it, shove the 3/4" threaded pipe section in the linkage and put the linkage back together, it will fit really snug and you will be able to line it up like it supposed to be without haveing the problems of trying to hold it in place and eyeball it and using 4 hands to hold it in place..

good luck
