Default Clutch Pedal Squeaking

What would cause a clutch pedal to squeak when pushed in and let out?

There's little spring clip under the pedal.. It might be that need some lubricating..It wouldn't affect driving much. Just annoying squeaking..

Just a little wd40 do the job? Or should I use gear oil or something like that?

use aerosol white lithium grease. it's good for springs and hinged joints because it goes on as a liquid then sets up thick to stay put and not drip off. i'm betting this is what the service manual recommends.

Both my Civics have had this problem, in both cases it was the master cylinder itself that was squeaking as the piston went in an out.

Hopefully it's just a joint, I guess I'll find out when I use the grease.

On your civic how did you fix it? Did you end up replacing the master cylinder?

That's the one thing I hate about older hondas, lol.

Did you ever get the slave sylinder noise fixed?

Yea its quiet now, i used synthetic bearing grease (pennzoil) and put some in between the fork and the slave cyl mating surface. I had this happen before on my old turbo hatchy and it was quiet for more than 4yrs
