make sure the brake switch is working(check your brake lights), and check that the shift lock solenoid is getting voltage when you press the brake . It may need a new gear selector switch.

Look in the FAQ for wiring diagrams.

The shift lock solenoid is right next to the "P" on your gear selector (if it's an automatic). You have to pop the cover off and use a key or other thin object to press the override button in. I'm having this same problem with my 2003 Accord except the brake lights are not coming on. That leads me to think it is either the brake switch gone bad, or the fuse under the hood that is preventing from me shifting without the override. Anyone have any thoughts on what this could be?
