Default ExtraBlackRex's 88 CRX Build..

This is the motor in it. ZC Swap, with a ZC transmission that thankfully does have LSD (Wohooo!!), motor only has 66K on it, runs fine and strong. My plans are to boost it for now because this isnt going to be the last motor to be in this car. I'm currently building a JDM h22 Type S motor for boost w/type R Tranny and it's gonna be seated in here come august. For now I figure i'll walk individuals through my transition to turbo.

Here she is. Believe it or not I got this car for free, I traded away one of the 7 H22 motors I have hanging around here for it and the guy was nothing short of enthused, and had it towed here. Once I got it running I totally forgot about how it looks cuz this thing truly does move very very well. I'm doing the paint myself..so i'm going to correct the Primer Job attempted on this car and bring it to total Primer Black before I go for my favored paint scheme..

Extra Black.

I own a 93 Si Hatchback, Extra Black. Have a 94 Ex Coupe, Extra Black and another 93 Hatchback...Extra Black. So yea...I like Extra Black, lol. The Fenders are going to, I hate them hate them hate them, and for the most part I'm gonna resto-mod it. I've already finished up doing a Leather interior for the car (All DIY), which includes the door panels, and dash board, and I wrapped some SI CRX Seats in JDM Black Bride Material I got from Ebay but i'm not putting it in until the exterior is up to speed.

These are the first parts I threw on the thing when I got em. 4 Tockico Blue's, Eibach Pro Lowering Springs, SI-Instrument Cluster and Black Out Corner Lights, since then i've also installed a AEM Cold Air Intake, DC Sport Exaust headers and A Full FLow Master exaust system. For turbo I've obtained an HF Manifold, Adapter Plate, Stainless Steel Piping, DSM Injectors and resistor Box, Front Mount Intercooler, Vaccum Operate boost controller, turbo timer and a few other goodies. Since i'm only pushing 8psi's max, I took the Turbo from my wrecked GSX in the back and had it rebuilt for usage here.

More pics to come, gonna get started going TUrbo some time next week!

Well I went on an adventure today through my garage, just a casual walk around the place, to look deep into what exactly I had laying around. So on my journey I found 2 B18 Blocks, a B20z Block, and a B16 Head I had sitting around. So I pulled them all out of the garage into the driveway to look them over, and I said...."Ya know what....**** a turbo for the moment, I wanna B20vtec...right now.." So we pushed my CRX behind the garage (Not finished with that, yet, stay tuned for a SICK LS/VTEC All motor build i'm doing with that instead of a Turbo ZC build), and pulled up a 90 Teal Green SI Hatch I had sitting as a rolling shell, no motor.

Called a few of my cuzzins, drinks, weed, jokes and alotta wrenching...and we got to work..

The b20z I found was from an Old all motor high compression B20 build I put together a few years ago, nothing was wrong with the bottom end, in fact I never grenaded the motor at all, just moved onto bigger and better things. Cool thing about this block is that it was Block Guarded, and I got the Crank serviced pretty well with a plug, balance and cut. So I put it on the stand and first thing I wanted to check was..

The bearings....don't wanna put the thing together just for it to spin on me..

Relatively fresh looking for a block that's been sitting for over a year or so..

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...u/af41606a.jpg

I took the B20 off, and put one of the LS motors I had on. I needed to take a few things off of it, this LS had a Type R Oil Pump (Which I snatched off), altenator bracket, and altenator, crank pulley and so on..all to be transfered over,

If u look over under my Project EK build there is another LS block just peeking out from under, lol, that blocks pretty damn good actually, sleeved, Block Guard, but the cranks shot. I need to clean up, I know, but with so many projects going on at once it's hard...

Type R Camshafts I had hanging around, would you believe these things were just sitting in a parts bin collecting dust? Yea so, I snagged em, and I said..."Oh yea, i'm gonna throw these bad boys in for good measure.."

Ok so after I removed the Type R Oil Pump, Water Pump, Breather box assembly, Exedy Stage 1 clutch and Flywheel from the LS block I had hanging around, I slapped them on the B20z, which also had a Block guard on it. I must have been Block Guard crazy or smart because I knew I was gonna beat on these motors and needed the insurance, lol. This is the bottom end, looks pretty damn good so far and to think this was a naked *** B20z I had hanging around that I'm now bringing to life with spare LS blocks I had hanging around.

So we bickered over a tranny for about 20 minutes...and we all thought I didn't have one. But I know my garage, I always have something hanging around. So while I rolled up I told my cousin to just walk back there and have hope.....10 minutes goes by, I hear em "Oh **** son...look at this.." He yanks a GSR Tranny I had hanging around from the pile and it's operational, he immediately throws it on.

Fully assembled..so...now the whole bottom end is together and ready to go, found some extra Hasport mounts to so it's definitely working out pretty good.

B16 head sitting around. Yea...gonna put you to work baby.

Yea, so my boy stopped by and he comes out of nowhere like.."Dude, I've got some ARP's you could have..throw em in..", he drives back home, gets them, we throw em in, looking damn good.

Heads dropped down ontop of the b20...and it's a golden fit,

Type R Camshafts go in next..

Caps on, button everything down.

Lucky me, I have a Greddy Exaust header hanging around that fits, I put everything else together, Belts, altenator ect, harness and everything is started on at this point, it's really coming right on together.

Boom...It's In...b20Vtec from parts hanging all around the garage, here is the total parts list.

B20z Block
Block Guard
Crank Service (Plug, Balance, Cut)
B16a Head
Type R Camshafts
Greddy Exaust Manifold
Polished Intake Manifold
Type R Oil Pump
Exedy Stage 1 Clutch
Chipped p28 Ecu

When It was dropped in, it ran straight like a champ and the thing absolutely hauls ***, only problem that occured was a leaking water pump, changed it out and now its solid with no problems. I wanna Dyno it and see what kinda power it's making but without speculation I know it's on the highside, this thing hauls ***. So...I think i'ma hold off on Turbo'ing my Rex and keep this goin..

Thanks for tuning in!

I like it man its crazy you had all of those parts laying around. The only thing Im skeptical of is the block guard. Hopefully you wont disrupt the coolant flow enough to warp your cylinder walls. Otherwise nice man

Smoking is key! It helps us focus keeeps our spirits up! lol

Well i've been INTO honda's for a Looooooong time, lol. Probably when I turned about...16-17, I actually focused in on honda's and honda's only. This was before I did any technical schooling of any sort, I lived with my grandfather who is a Muscle Car GOD around these parts so to keep what he calls "***got Motors" out and away from his precious big blocks he restricted me to the backyard behind the shed, while he rocked the backyard in front of the shed. Back then there wasn't much you could do to Honda's anyway, not like now anyway. I'm proud to say that I've walked a road in life that while not always legal and straight, it brought me closer to cars then I could ever come and I saved EVERYTHING I ever came across, lol. So it was maybe...4 years, turned 20 and with the money I saved I purchased an empty garage around the corner from my house which has a garage as well. I'm 26 now...so that's about...10 years worth of stockpiled Honda' parts, lmao.

I've got parts out the *** hanging around here umm..just off top I know I have...3 Type R blocks (Pistons and Crank intact), 5 LS-MOtors, 3 B16 (1 is a JDM b16, whole swaps mind you), I now have 1 more B20z, and another b20b bottom end around here, 7 H motors..yes, 7 I looooooooooooooooove the H, lmao, 2 K20 bottom ends with 1 head and an entire K20 swap...mind you this is just what i'm aware of, If i actually go digging I'll always find something else like just now I was looking for my favorite lighter that I dropped in the garage and found a complete swap for an Acura Legend Type II!! Not to mention miscellaneous **** I have hanging around like suspensions, exaust, chips, intakes, tach's, ect, ect...

I like to keep wrenching, and switch it up. I'm in a car club as well so I like to keep my boys running so while I have alot..I also use alot, and I hate selling things because I never know when I'ma get the urge to try something different or someone in my crew is gonna need a back up motor.

Right now i'm trying to figure out what to do with my Rex, I was gonna go ZC-TURBO, but after finding these LS Blocks, and knowing I have Type R's hanging in the wings I dunno, I think i'ma put together an all motor monster before I go boost. Dunno, i've certainly got enough hanging around, it's just a matter of figuring out what I wanna do then doing it. If ya need something tho bro lemmie know I can actually sell some of this ****, lol.

I have alot of actual whole cars and shells sitting around to, ontop of the 4 I own and drive it keeps me secured to know if I wreck up one I can immediately be back on the road looking the same in the matter of hours, thankfully i've yet to like..crash crash.

IF you got the space man...Keep your motors, even after they grenade and blow to hell, don't sell it off, keep it, you never know what you're gonna come across that'll make it work later on, i'm an automotive pack rat and I love it!
