Default My 82x89mm Ls/Vtec Build

This is the first motor that I've assembled on my own. Glad that it started right up
with no major problems. I just need to tune it. It will be street tuned, then when I have some extra cash, I'm going to put it on a dyno to see what it lays down.

Gsr Head:
Stock VT
Blox Type-A Cams
Skunk2 Gears
Gasket Match Ported Exhaust
RMF Narrow Rep Header
Performer X Intake Mani

B18b1 Block:
82mm Pr3 Pistons
Stock LS Rods
JGE Knife Edged Crank
CTR N1 Pulley

B16 Transmission:
12lbs Flywheel
Don't know clutch brand

My old setup.

GSR Block:
OEM PR3 Pistons
Ls Rods
Ls Crank

Everything else the same minus the cams. Had GSR cams.
2 warped exhaust valves on cyl#2. Checked compression
about a week before this run and it was 210-90-220-220.

14.1

GSR Stock manifold? If so, you'll max at about 180-185whp.

Yeah. I researched a lot, and it seemed like this was my best option. I bought mine already ported with a 70mm TB opening (running 68mm PP TB). I don't have any before and after personal comparisons since I put everything in all at once.

Hope to get tuned this week. I'll probably hit the track before I get to a dyno.

Should be getting tuned on Saturday. I'll be hitting the track on (next) Friday night. Hope to lay down at least some mid 13sec passes.

I have essentially the same setup but with stock gsr cams and a b16 intake manifold. I put down 172whp with only one dyno run of tuning and no cam gear adjustments (before my cat melted) so you should easily be in the 190whp+ range depending on the dyno.

I hope you're not running those cams with a stock gsr valvetrain though.....

- b16 head (rebuild with no head work)

INTAKE SYSTEM
- Performer x mani
- PP 65mm TB
- ebay 3" SRI with v stack
- Hondata IM gasket

EXHAUST
- RMF 4-1 rep. header

There are only 2 tuners in my area. One is VERY hard to get a hold of, and only tunes when he is high. The other is just as good, but a lot easier to reach. I don't have the money for a dyno tune, but the car is still going to be tuned.

This setup is only for maybe 2-3 months till I can get some money to upgrade cams and do some head work. I'll be taking it to Secret Services in Houston, Tx when the time comes.

No they are not. They are a copy of the Skunk2 stage 1 tuner series cams and they will make more power than ITR/CTR cams will as they are bigger.

That's a little farther than I'd like to go. I've already talked to the people at Secret Services and I'm happy with the quote I received and the work that I've seen from their shop.

I tried to discuss the problems I was having with the map and I just got an "ok...". I got a basemap from the guy that's going to tune my car tomorrow and had no problems.

The basemap i gave you was a car identical to urs..the car was dyno tuned too..with that said you got a tps and map sensor problem on the map i sent you, yet you didnt get it with the other, that makes no sense because bins dont effect cels like that.. my trip service for tuning is 250 flat rate as long as your a day drive and a hotel is near, if ss is doing you for less then 250 thats a good deal, however i dont think they are, and i have entirely too many vouches and good results to not say my work is good, its whatever and its ur car, gl.

congrats on your build!......im not trying to be a dick but I gotta go off topic and ask you guys a quick question (can't make my own posts yet and I need some answers quick).......tell me if these compression numbers sound right. I may be buying a motor. b-16. has aftermarket and internals. 84mm darton sleeves. made for boost. the compression ratio is around 7.5-8:1. his compression cold numbers were 120 on all and 125 for hot. I just want to make sure that sounds ok before I buy. Thanx alot. and sorry hondamn.

$250, plus the dyno fee of who knows how much. What program to you use to tune?

beauty built. i hope it make the hp you want.
i would go for type R cams. since the car is daily driven.
But a stage I cams is not to much.
GSR IM is GOOD stuff. since you can port it as you want it.
The cams could be much a probleme. (blox)
if you slam type r cams in there. youll got nice power, for cheap price, since they run on stock springs/retainers.
I did LSVTEC 185Whp on GSr cams 203whp CTR cams.
even if i have to go on big cams, i like tu see what kind of power stock cams can make at firts.
i will use Toda B in my built soon. but i will of course go for the CTR at first...
But dont tell to anybody about it... its a secret LOL

Not to be a dick, but... I can never fully understand what you're trying to say. :\

Almost any cam can be tuned to be streetable, I'm not worried about that.

Cheap price? You can't really beat the price I got these for. I've never seen a set of ITR/CTR go for what I paid for my Blox cams.

I don't have a GSR intake manifold, it's a PerformerX.

The car has been tuned and it runs GREAT. I did have a little problem though. My ignition coil burned. Doubt it was due to the tune. And the car is overheating. I'm sure it's a clogged radiator, but it's brand new, so I don't know. The fan comes on, but the air is cool.

planning to visit my tuner to clarify about the the power band being cut at 7800, I'm assuming cause my tuner was saying that my car was off my 500 rpm and wasn't sure if it was the cluster, dizzy or ECU. I already replaced my cluster and nothing changed so next will be the dizzy just for peace of mind cause don't know the history of the one I'm running.
