'91 Accord Wagon F22B1 Swap
Hello-
I'm new to the forum and would love to get some advice. I have done some searching and it seems that I will be able to go ahead and put the F22B1 (from a '94 Accord Sedan, yay vtec!) into my '91 Accord Wagon (F22A1.) I'm wondering if I can swap the transmission along with it (both auto, unfortunately.) And if it would be a good idea / bad idea to attempt to swap the front suspension as well?
(Back Story) I have had this '91 (223k!) for a good while and it has been having the idle surge issue, as well as bad motor mounts and just recently have what seems like a bad drivers side wheel bearing. It has had a lot of hard miles the last 100k or so that I've had it and allowed various members of my family to abuse it. My sister-in-law rear-ended someone in her '94 (168k) and did enough damage that she wants to part it out rather than trying to find new radiator supports/pass. fender support/hood/light/etc. and I want to put the engine/transmission/front struts/springs/wheel bearings into the wagon.
So, I would love any tips/tricks/problems/suggestions that will help me decide the best course of action. Thanks for your time and I anxiously await your advice.

P.S. If I left out any need to know information, let me know and I will add it!

you can use the tranny from the f22b motor, make sure you get tcu if its an auto. Use your f22a mounts and brackets. you will need to run 3 wires ( vtec oil pressure, vtec signal, and knock sensor) and also use the f22b ecu if you have it. its a direct drop in swap minus the little bit of wiring needed. have fun and pm me if you have anymore questions.

I have everything from both cars minus a few of the passenger side components from the '94 that were ruined in the collision.
Could you tell me why I need to use the mounts and brackets from the f22a? They are BAD and I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy new ones.
Oh, one other question.. the '91 auto trans has the "sports" button.. and the '94 doesn't. What are your thoughts on that?
Anyway, thanks for the tips.

if your mounts are bad then replace them, the 94 accord mounts are slightly different. All the sport button does is hold the revs a lil longer when at WOT. the 94 ecu will automatically does when you are at WOT. what ever tranny you use, you need to use the tcu for that tranny, do not mix and match bc it will cause problems.
Holy crap getting those mounts to line up was a super pain in the ***. Am I wrong that the only mounts that are different are the drivers side mount and the front mount? The trans mount and rear mount look identical. By the way, having to remove all the timing cover and swap that bracket out on the drivers side mount sucked too. However, I did discover that the Timing belt (cam pulley) on the Vtec was one tooth off! I swapped out the whole front cross member so I could use the front mount from the '94.
Does anyone know if the fuel tank and front windshield from the 94 will fit on to the 91?
Thanks guys.

Hey. I am new to this blog/thread. I am in Trinidad in the Caribbean. I have a JDM CB3 (which is your CB7) accord. The only major difference is that mine is right hand drive. I am thinking about doing the same engine/tranny swap you just did. As a matter of fact i have been searching sites to get info on any problems that may arise while doing the swap.
I have located the engine and tranny. Its a JDM F22b SOHC Vtec. I am getting mounts, ecu, harness, axles, complete engine (a/c, power steering, cruise control unit) and tranny.
My questions are
1: Which mounts you used in the swap?
2: Did your exhaust bolt right up to the original CB7's
3: Which power sterring line did you use?
4: What other alterations did you have to make to get the motor in?
Thanks for the info in advance!!!

Hey me again! I purchased the car with a b16a conversion already in there. Being my daily driver, i overworked that motor hence the need to swap. Can you please list all the CB7 parts you reused in the swap so i can source them. With the present set-up, i limited CB3 parts to reuse. Please give as much details as possible.
One last question would you recommend this as a DIY?
I am putting in an auto tranny.
Thanks
