36mm hub problems! 4 new crv bearings, 3 seem to be bad
so i bought 4 new 2000 crv front wheel bearings to use on 2 of my cars had 2 wobbly bearings but preventative maintenance status ya know
anyways, i had honda press out the 4 old bearings and press in the 4 new ones, and 3 of the bearings seem to be bad, they are wobbly
is there any different pressing process for the 36mm bearings and hubs than normal 32mm for 4lug and civics? because i told them theyre just parts for 99 civic si(i use to have si and that was the vin on the insurance card in my wallet)
needless to say after $500 of expense and hours of putting the hubs back on i seem to be worse off now
cliffs: 4 jdm 98spec hubs, 4 new crv bearings, honda labor, fail

the balljoints are all new mfactory extended balljoints.
the wobbly part is the rotor/wheel, those move but not the whole spindle
i only trq'd one pair because ive only tried to drive on one set, over trq'd it a little when i saw it was no good( i dont know, i was hoping that would tighten things up
)

I had a problem where my hub spun inside the bearing and got chewed up. I replaced the bearing and needless to say it was still loose. Got a new hub and all was good. I doubt that's your problem with all 3 but still can't hurt to check.
I really cant see how you could get bad bearings right from honda, I also cant see how a honda dealer could screw up 3 pressing them in, its a pretty simple job. Is the axle nut acually pulling the bearing all the way together? (I dont know what you are running for a outer cv) maybe its running out of threads? I dought this but something weired is going on there.

There is a wrong way to press these bearings in. There is an "in" and "out". Also, I still cannot explain it to this day but the bearing and hub has an amount of play. Once the hub nut is tightened down, the play goes away.
^^ tightening the nut pulls the two inner haves together and preloads the bearing. It takes up the slack between the races and *****
so are the hubs and bearings the only moving parts? and do you guys know if the 2000 crv front hub would be the one i need?
i will try torqing the axle nuts on the other two that seem to be bad before ordering parts for them

Hub presses into the bearing, the bearing and hub will not spin independent from each other. If the outer race spins inside the knuckle... wrong bearing. If the hub spins inside the inner race.... wrong bearing. Wish I knew which CR-V bearing you need.
well i will head down to honda and see if they have a crv hub in stock, and if they do ill take a spindle down so they can see if its the same.
sucks not having this done so i can get a proper allignment, alot of power, alot of suspension, and cant drive it like i want
