Horrid grinding cycle sound from car, help ht !
So the s2000 has 130k on it, and i just had a 4 wheel alignment, and new tires. Clutch has about a year on it, with about 15k,
the sound starts about 20 seconds into driving, then gets very loud. It sounds like a drill bit meant for wood on metal.
facts.
- happens when clutch is in or out
-- however is louder when in gear accel or decell
-- sounds like its from the drive-shaft or back of tranny, can't tell
-- small leak, very small from tranny case, 1 drip a day if that
-- lots of greese found under car, near rear lca, thick, dry greese,
-- car drives fine minus a slight odd feeling when stop to go, like driving over a few ropes, then nothing
I basically need idea's on whats wrong, but i can at least jack it up and drop the tranny if i have some good thoughts/input.

is it your camshaft? is it lumpy or grumpy??
seriously, i have no idea - it couldn't be anything to do with the starter could it? i had an old car years ago that did a 'similar' sounding thing and it was something to do with the starter (even though there was no problem when starting the car)
good luck. let us know how you go..
