dpfi to mpfi dizzy problems. someone please help???
so i just ordered a dpfi to mpfi swap harness from rywire. they really ****ed me over i told them i have a d16y7 with a z6 manifold and everything else is obd0 off my stock d15b1 ef motor (dizzy alternater and starter) i waited 6 weeks to get my harness back and came to find out that one of my dizzy plugs doesnt plug in. my dizzy is off my dpfi motor and has one cirlce plug and one square one and the harness rywire sent back two circle ones. one of them plugs in and the other doesnt. the engine harness plug has 7 pins and my dizzy one has 5. i dont understand how rywire messed this up?? i told them everything is obd0. is there a difference between an obd0 dpfi dizzy and a mpfi dizzy from like and si??? please get back to me. i havent driven in forever. thanks
from what i know:
dpfi dizzy is different from mpfi dizzy, even if they're both odb0
so, get an odb0 D series MPFI dizzy (like the one that comes in the d16y8)
also note - the dpfi dizzy may fit the mpfi engine head, but it wont work kuz its not designed to fire 4 injectors

the dx dizzy doesnt have crank sensor in it were a si one has a crank sensor in it this link might help you i know it is for a zc but the wiring on a si and a zc is the same and for the dizzy it is the same for the z6 too

Both plugs on the correct distributor for a pre OBD (OBD0) MPFI engine are circular. Only an 88-91 Civic/CRX EX/Si distributor will work, possibly an HF but don't quote me on that one. They did not screw you, you just didn't have the correct distributor to run your setup to begin with. As stated above, the MPFI distributor has an extra sensor that the DPFI distributors do not have so your original distributor is completely useless to your new setup now.
The last link posted by BiG ChOr!Zo is for the Si vs DOHC ZC distributor plug differences. The first circle in that diagram is the only thing relevant to your setup. You cannot depin your DPFI plug off your dizzy and mate it to a MPFI plug and expect it to work. Your distributor is not equipped with the additional sensor. You need to use an 88-91 EX/Si distributor.
