Default hurry up and wait, cooling down metal after welding

So as I get busier I'm looking for ways to speed up production. I'm currently stumped on what I can do to cool parts after welding so I can continue to work with them. Ie: after welding a collector I find myself staring at it waiting for it to cool so I can unbolt it and throw it in the jig, same goes for runners etc. I hate the idea of quenching the parts, is there any real legitimate safe way to cool the parts without compromising the integrity? Blowing air?

Get a decent fan and put the parts infront of it. You can also try and alternate parts to maximize weld time.

weld another collector. if i'm busy, i'll weld all the parts at the same time cycling through them. that is usually enough time for them to cool. normally, i try to have a collector or two already welded on the shelf.

plan to have some other work ready to do while it cools. Maybe a little bit of compressed air will help to. Just try to plan ahead for that down time and use it to your advantage. There is always something to do!

Could place it on a large piece of metal and allow heat transfer to do some of the work for you.

Yeah, I just work on other stuff while the fresh-welded parts cool off.

Our concrete parking lot will pull heat out of work quick! Painted shop floor doesn't do the same though.

I started using a 1.5in thich block of aluminum to bolt/clamp the parts to and they cool so much faster. The aluminum suck the heat out pretty quick.

I really like a fan/cooler device setup with a shroud to keep the cool air surrounding the part. Oh, and like everyone else has said... have more work ready to go.

Thin copper conducts heat better than aluminum. Fan + heat sink base = win.
