what year is this trans/engine/rear end out of s4 or s5?

 

I want to say S4 (1987) but I'm not positive on that. How can I check and distringuish the two so I can tell for you sure?

 

on the s4 the oil filter is on top...thats one difference i can think of

 

The email notification I received from the thread showed you were only asking about the rear end (which I thought were the same), but it looks like you edited it to include the engine/trans. Those are out of 1987, and I just received a text from my buddy confirming this. So the drivetrain is from a series 4.. the S5 parts are a few body parts, for the aesthetics obviously.

 

well, i assumed that you got everything out of the same car...s4 rear end is actually a better one (in my opinion).... good luck with the sale, and if my car sells ill let you know
