Default Security for the ITR

Hello all, I am soon to be a Type R owner, hopefully by the end of the month. Now the car only has the factory alarm, Im set on getting a Lo-Jack. I was wondering the negative part of Lo-Jack. I hear testamonials all the time on how quickly the cars are recovered.

The car will be parked in a garage, from the first day I have her but I want to know what else would be a good idea.

Reading the graveyard sticky made me want to back off the idea of getting a Type R, but I have wanted one since I was a teenager.

Thanks

Is the car being parked outside?

Are you in California?

Make sure you relocate the Low-jack unit from where it's normally placed.

If you're in California, get in contact with wrx-killer-Sti-eater for your security needs.

The car is not here yet. Still with the current owner. I am in Ca.

I thought Lo-Jack does not teller the buyer where the Lo Jack is located.

Is Wrx-killer-sti-eater an alarm installer?

Negatives to Lo-Jack: It only works in areas where the police have the ability to pick up the Lo-Jack signal. So if you live in the boonies or in some city that doesn't use Lo-Jack, it won't do anything for you.

In terms of additional security, you will want a stealth installed pager alarm with, ideally, a backup battery, tilt, hood, and glass sensors, and concealed siren.

I'd highly recommend some sort of GPS tracking system and a driveway patrol or baby monitor type device.

Other measures include clutch locks, removable steering wheel, kill switches, wheel boot, etc.

Always consider where you drive it, where you park it, and for how long.

I knew about the location thing, but majority of CA is covered.

It would suck if it was ever stolen from my garage.

This is making me worry even more, considering the color of the car too.

I believe so.

I'd strongly suggest a good GPS system rather than lo-jack. Even caRs in Lo-jack areas are rarely recovered in time. GPS will tell you where the car is and where it has been...small monthly fee's with some systems, but well worth it IMO. Just do some searches on here and you'll find a plethera of information regarding security.
