Here's the problem. He was driving home doing about 70 and the car just died. he tried downshifting to get the car started and it didn't work
thought he ran out of gas(halftank) but it was good, filled it with 5 gallons just in case and it went to full.
towed it home and started to check it out.

Problem #1- Checked the dist. cap and screw holding rotor came off. So it was in there causing problems. Got new screw, rotor and cap.

checked to make sure the plug wires were in correct order

Checked battery and its good.

Cranked up car and it still won't start. Checked the plugs and they are covered in black soot, cleaned them up and threw back in. Fired up the car again and won't start up. Checked the plugs and they are covered again.

So we checked the timing belt, it was good.

checked the distributor and tested with voltmeter. It's within specs.

also checked the tps and it was good

cleaned plugs again

Put it all back and it still won't start.

the car cranks and has spark. no CEL codes either, just won't start..

HELP??
