Default Problem after swapping out a bad transmission

I had a bad tranmission on my 93 accord automatic. I finally got help from a friend and swapped out the old tranny with a used (but good) tranny. However, the new tranny will not catch gear in D4 or D3. It will reverse and drive normal in either 1st or 2nd gears.

Does anyone know what the problem could be.

And also, this is the first time I've done a tranny swap. Thanks in advance guys

you may want to double check your work...since it was your 1st trans swap..im not trying to knock on you/no disrespect at all..but changing a transmission is a lengthy process...lots of bolts, wiring/connectors, and hoses for the a/t cooler. you may also want to check the fluid level. its should be checked on a flat surface, after being warmed up. and the level should be between the low and high marks on the stick. also make sure you use honda atf
