What is it that you cant stand about the honda scene as it stands currently?

For me, it would be the rusted panels, and the tire stretching for super wide wheels.

As for the rusted panels, its just pointless, in every since of the word.

The tire stretching on the other hand is not safe at all, there is a reason most tire shops wont put on tires that are too skinny for the wheel.

I understand people will do what they like, because it is their car. But still, people will have opposing opinions, that is what this thread was intended for.

Tire stretching is stupid and dangerous. Wish it would stop.

Also, everyone using the word "flush" when what they are describing goes directly against the definition of "flush".

 

um...so having a bike rack with a bike is "stupidly stupid" wtf are they for then? just saying cause i carry mine on my hatch, i ride all the time. just dont feel like driving 20 minutes home then 30 minutes to go ride trails. you sir...fail.

 

I think bike racks are fine if you are actually using them for their purpose. People who have a rack and don't use it except for "show" are the idiots.

Anyway, what I hate about the honda scene is not the trends, they come and go, so its whatever.
What I hate is the mentality of the young kids with their hondas. For some reason when you are young with an import, you suddenly think you are God's gift to speed.

 

I agree with you there, not to sound mean, but around here, everytime I see a young mexican kid in his crx/ef hatch/da, they try to race me.

I dont know what it is, but Honda is getting associated with teenagers in high school, for those of us that have gotten past the college age and started a family, we're being referred to as "old men". Which is incredibly stupid.

i love all the fads and trends that come and go...
i hate the thievery/ scamming... it's almost endemic to this scene

 

What bothers me is how everything is labeled "JDM!" All these kids running around with dr20's, fugen lips, 50/50 tails, APEX'i N1, ebay coilovers...talking about JDM this and JDM that, not realizing that APEX Integrated is the us version of Apex, dr20's are made in the phillipines, fugen lips are a copy of the wrong year lip, 50/50's are ebay pieces from china. It's not that I think it looks bad, because all of those pieces are moderately tasteful, it's just that they're mislabeled.

I am also on a personal vendetta against those "type-r" lips. I freaking hate them.

Thieves **** me the **** off.

 

Especially on the 92-95 civics, since there was no type r for that generation.

I feel you on the "jdm" craze, I still dont understand it.

 

I agree with most of these comments. Even the highschool kid one, although i am in highschool. i find myself shaking my head at 16 year olds who just got their first honda or car for that matter and think they have to rip everywhere they go. Tire stretch and this "Hellaflush" craze does not belong on a honda.

 

I agree on the thieves.

Everyone gets their jollies off on being different. To some modifying a grocery getter econobox is enough firepower to flame. Anything someone can do to be "different" they will. The more things change, the more they stay the same. The thing I have to say bothers me the most about the "scene" is people always complaining about other people's cars.

 

i personally dont care for any of these new trends.....

tire stretch= dumb, ugly and dangerous

different colored bays= dumb idea unless its black or battleship gray

rusted hoods= leave it to the ***s from the Vw scene

roof racks= complete stupid on a show car or any any clean honda( i mean honestly if your paint is fresh, do you really want to throw a dirty bike on your "fresh " ride?) and if your not hauling anything then what is the point???


there are a few new trends that i am fond of though....i.e.......lower offsets wheels with appropriate tires, and shaved bays always look nice too

dont like - cars with a bunch of ebay parts on them. using crappy tires in order to use super wide wheels. stickers everywhere. narrow mindedness.

do like - cars that are using quality parts that are low key, it takes a closer look to realize that they mean business. black engine bay. it looks serious. cars that are tastefully modified with some kid of theme or plan. you can tell the owner cares about it all working together. ex. the goal for my car is to be a little sporty looking and have great handling while also being usable every day and have a little power, eventually.

its an attack against all that you hate. and what you want is for folks that agree with you to come in and say "Yeah i hate dat **** tooooo!"

 

No, i didnt press my opinion on anyone. But i do know that a lot of people have the same dislike against certain things people do to Hondas.

There seems to be a norm to HT, this is what i've gathered so far.

If you dont agree with these statements, you will get **** on by most "senior members"

-DOHC is the only way to go.
-BBS wheels are the ****
-GC/koni yellow is the best combo, period.

Im going to go ahead and say I am not big with the b series (or other) swap crowd. I cannot really argue or hate on anyone that does it, just not my cup of tea. I am just a fan of oem reliability. Ill be paitently waiting for someone to get pissed about my comment.

 

I hate how everyone hates on replica's.
I know there replica's and there stealing the design, but not everyone can afford $1.5k wheels,
when we can get them, mounted and balanced for half the price.
Same with replica lips and such. If your gonna DD your car,
why the f#$% would you put a $200 lip if its gonna get destroyed?

Are they really stealing the design? Because it would seem there would be some sort of copyright infringement if that really happened.
