05 ACCORD 2.4L TRANS
so my trans took a dump on me this last past week. i see alot of people that have had the same problem is there any recalls or does anyone know if the warranty was extended i have a 05 2.4L auto with 90k on it and this happen without warning i just changed the oil and trans fluid the day before it happen and when it got to the trans shop the guy told me my fluid in the trans was burnt and low (smh) how when i just changed and filled it 2 days ago
How much fluid did you put in, when you changed it? Honda ATF? I don't think there is any recall on the 4 cylinder transmissions. There was a recall on the 03-04 V6 transmissions, but that was not to replace the transmission, only to install a "jet kit". The Jet kit was installed through the V6 transmission's fill hole, so maybe that's why Honda didn't recall the 4 cylinder transmission, it has no fill bolt (you have to use the dipstick tube.
Unfortunately a lot of people wait until 90k. That's what the manual suggests and its bullshit. My mother's 05' tends to be low on occasion with no visible leaks. I change it every 30k. Go figure....
Sometimes if the fluid is real bad the differing viscosity of the new fluid will do the trans in. They should have explained this
to you. Its pretty ****ed that honda suggests such intervals. I was aghast when I saw it.

Other than external oil pressure switches, I have yet to see any K-series automatic transmission failures with vehicles in which the ATF has been changed regularly every 30,000 miles, which is what I recommend. I've seen only a handful of K trannies develop some problems after 100,000 miles or so with no fluid changes at all . . .

no leaks anywhere i put in 3 qts of castrol atf it said on the bottle it meets honda specs. did only a drain and fill thats what my owners manual and mitchell said i usually check every oil change to see what the level is i just changed it this time because the car was at 90k this is the first time i changed it since i've had the car didn't get the car new got it in 08 it had 60k on it
pretty much when the car heats up it will not go in any gear it drives fine when its cold but onces the car gets warm it starts to hesitate and jerk then it revs but doesnt move
you should have some codes there the dreaded gear ratio and output shaft lol
in all seriousness i have only done a few K auto trans' and that was due to customer idiocy. I have one in my bay right now with the trans out actually putting a front seal in it, that perticular one is rare rare rare though to go bad. pull codes but most likley your gonna need a trans.
Also no warranty extension on that perticular vehicle sorry sir.

the K series auto trannies are not known to have any particular weak spots.
i had a 2003 auto i4, it made ~150 WHP/150 ft-lbs with a bunch of bolt ons, i brake torqued and hard launched the car many times, the tranny made it 100K miles no problems until it was stolen and wrecked.

the car did have a check engine light right before it was towed to shop along with a blinking d indicator but when i picked it up from the shop the light was out
I'd need to know the actual DTCs to make a conclusion. Sometimes a problem as simple as a bad 3rd clutch oil pressure switch or 4th clutch oil pressure switch can cause jerking and driveability problems along with the blinking D indicator, but they will throw a specific DTC.
If you're getting codes for shaft speed sensors and incorrect gear ratios, then the trans is indeed bad. In that situation, your best bet is to source a good used transmission from a salvage yard and install that. These transmissions don't commonly fail so your chances of getting a good one are very high. Depending on where you shop for a trans and who does the installation labor, you could easily get the car moving again for less than $1000. I'd suggest installing new axle seals and fresh genuine Honda ATF-Z1. Check the rear main crankshaft oil seal on the engine while you have the trans off to make sure it isn't leaking.

as i said before i noticed that this only happens when the car warms up could it have something to do with the trans cooler or something and i will put a scanner on it when i get to work tomorrow to see if i can pull those codes
My gf's parents have a 05 Accord V6 with 38,160 miles on it. They've taken excellent care of the car, on time oil changes and everything. All of a sudden the car just dies in the middle of the road after her dad was stopped at a red light. The car had to be pushed to the side. They're the original owners, bought it new and it's not salvage or anything. Whats going on with these accords? We had the car towed to a shop and they said it was a P0746 pressure control solenoid or stuck off internal problem. They want $2200 to fix it. Anyone else have this problem?

They said it's only under warranty for 3/36k. I tried to look through the manual for a powertrain warranty, but couldn't find one. Online i see that the 2006 has a 5 year 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. Does anyone know what powertrain actually covers?
I can't believe Honda will not good-will this, especially when the same transmission is warranted for 60k miles in 06 models. They should pay at least half. 80% would be fair. Does this transmission have the infamous "jet kit" installed (probably not)?
guy from honda confirmed that my accord doesnt need a trans just have to replace sensor told me that the p0722 code cannt be caused by mechanical failure only electrical and the part is only $52
I'm no so lucky, honda just got back to me. Transmission is bad at 38,160 and needs a new one. They said they'd be willing to pay for 50% of it, so i still have to come up with 2k.
