checklist for b16a swap. suggestions please
ok guys..this is a b16a 1st gen COMPLETE swap into a 89 civic DX HB..this is what i have and just curious if i need anything else:
-complete b16a swap for hondamotorsonline.com
-action clutch from Rocket (for a future turbo set up)
-HCP OR HASport motor mounts
-and a buddy for install
ok, i know my HB has the dreaded dual point injection and the person installing my motor told me he will charge $600 as a side job for the swap IF i bring him a wiring harness so he wouldnt have it do it by hand(he'll charge $300 more to customize by hand). I went to hasport.com and I THINK i saw this harness. not too sure though. but can someone give me a name for this harness and around how much it would run me if i got it from HASport or anyone else. if it costs too much, then ill just pay the guy an extra $300 to customize one.
let me know what u guys think. thanks

You need the engine harness that came with the b16a1. That gets sent to hasport, and they send you back the harness, modified to plug back into your car, plus about 8 wires that you plug into the ecu harness. If memory serves correct, its about $250 to do that.

how long does it usually take for HASport to do this and send it back.
so basically i take the b16a ecu that comes with the swap and send it to hasport to modify..

and is there anything else missing from my list or is it ready to go?

You will probably need some sort of aftermarket intake setup. I'm not sure if the stock DX one will fit on the B - series throttle body, but I'm thinking that it will not. You should also probably replace your water pump and timing belt. You are also going to need different C.V. shafts.
i doubt the intake will fit..but for the water pump and the timing belt, do i just get those from any b-series car or how would that work (i apologize for my ignorance
)
and the CV shafts dont come with the complete swap? cause the axles do...if not, where can i get these?
thanks for the reply..any help is needed

theres alot of other things u need. make sure u got the right axles. u need all your fluids, a throttle cable from a 90-93 integra and probably a few other tings i cannot remember
well, when i said a complete swap, i shouldve included everything it came with since some places leave things out..well, this is what my swap includes (taken from hondamotorsonline directly)
"Complete motor and cable tranny(Y1,S1,J1),ecu (PR3,Pwo),axles with half shaft, shift linkage, stock motor mounts, engine harness and all sensors needed."
according to this, i have the axles, and the shift linkage..
however, do i need to get specific axles and a different shift linkage for my application or will the ones listed above work?

Things to keep in mind...
Shift linkage might be an XSI one, which would need to be modified. The SIR one works 50% of the time, so whatever mounts you get , you might want to pick up their linkage.
Timing belt, water pump and tensioner from 94-95 del sol vtec
Axles will not be reliable. Most of the time they recommend replacing them. Use the ones you get for cores.
Hasports wiring is called DX to SIR conversion. It is 249 and you send your DX harness not the SIR.
The only other things you need are plugs(BKR6E-N11, cap & rotor, alternator belt(91 LS), wires and upper radiator hose(92 GSR). Clutch, throttle cable and lower radiator hose (91 integra) You had clutch on your list right?

thanks monty..your post helped a great deal..damn, i had no idea the swap would require so many misc parts..i always thought when u buy a COMPLETE b16a swap, it would come with everything u need..or at least majority of it...i will do more hw and will start breaking out the wallet and looking for the little things u listed, as well as on the hasport website..
only thing im confused is the hasport website tells u a list but im not sure if my complete swap package includes it.
and yes, i just purchased an ACTION stage 2 MD clutch from rocket for the b series (y1,s1,j1)..
ill post here if i have any more questions and keep the replies coming guys!

Did you see the online warranty from Hondamotorsonline?? It states:
Start up warranty is only valid on USED, JDM & USDM motors and is unconditional when changing the following engine components:- spark plugs, spark plug wires (leads), rotor, timing belt, water pump and tension pulley. All of the previously mentioned have to be changed on JDM & USDM motors to become legible for the 100% start-up warranty.
Thermostat should be changed also. Mine was almost completely rotted out.
If you need any help with parts you can email or IM me. I have a full rebuild list with everything but connecting rods and pistons.

[/QUOTE]*get some new spark plugs
*repare and replacement parts(belts, hose, clamps, gaskets, ect)
*90-93 integra TB cable
****check out shopping list on hasport)
*might wanna replace the timing belt while the motor is out of the car.
check the trans and see if the clutch cable bracket is on it. Mine wasn't. We didn't notice until later, so the swap was prolonged while we ordered the part from acura.
