They need to use the harness from your car, and probably swap some sensors from your old engine. You'll also want an OBD1 P14 and wire up a knock sensor

Actually since it is vtec he would want the usdm obd1 p13 or a chipped p28 to run a different map. But like you said he would need to swap some sensors and use your harness. If the shop has done an H22 swap before they can do this too. Don't let them yet and tell you they want more money either. That would just be b.s.

Honda's a wiring nightmare? Hahaha...yeah right.

Try working for Volkswagen. Talk about wiring nightmares.

I once had to re-pin 133 wires on a MK4 Jetta due to coolant migration, not fun at all.

If a " tuner " shop can't wire up an H swap, get it the hell out of there before they make your car a guinea pig POS.

Just my $.02

I was tired . Anyway, this really doesn't sound like a competent shop.

And for wiring nightmares, pick up an E30

They'll need to source a H22 IM to be able to retain the 2-wire IACV and get some H22 injectors as well, because your stock harness will plug right in too. This will also make the wiring job easier to do.

Also, just get a OBD1 H22 Distributor so that it'll plug N play with your stock harness. I know this because my buddy swapped in a JDM Blue Top H23A VTEC into his 97-01 Prelude, and he had to use a H22 distributor to be able to plug in the harness.

By doing all of this, its just making things more simplicity and very very similar to an H22 swap. This is why most people prefer the H22 over any other swap.

I guess the main concern or confusion is with my auto trans.. my car being obd1 f22b auto and the new tranny and engine obd2.. any making that work with the rest of the car. they said i would have to find a obd1 trans install that on to the h23a vtec. (although the f22 auto trans would be the ideal doner then, that trans is dead which began the whole engine swap idea into play)
i have a PCF ecu that came with the engine but not the full harness. i would like to keep it auto as its my daily driver in the summer..

I guess im a bit confused as do i find a full harness, and then find a conversion.. but then if im using the obd2 ecu to run the engine and trans properly... then what needs to be changed to run the interior of the car?

They said i could drop that engine easy if i wanted to make it manual.

So then get an automatic OBDI H22A ?

The H23 is not *that* much better with cost in mind.

Realistically if this "tuner" shop is telling you that this is a wiring nightmare, then they probably shouldn't be doing the swap. I suggest finding another shop and getting their quote, then compare.

The biggest pain in the *** is the CPS

Heres what ya do... Using the F22b1 harness (I did)

Get ahold of any OBD1 JDM H22 dizzy (The internal coil one... It has ALL of the sensors IN IT jussssst like the F22b1)also it will clip right into your OEM 94 harness. NO modification needed. forget about the sensors down by the crank snout or take them out.

You dont need to worry about the knock sensor (I didnt, its not installed and the F22b1 harness dont have a provision for it anyways..)

Youll need to extend the IAT sensor wires about 8" as its not on the rear of the plenum like ion the b1 intake, its on the DSA... NO big deal...

As you already have the B1, VTEC is already wired into the harness...

the only issue I had was figuring out the fan switch sensors, they dont correlate the same from the H to the F, but WILL reach and work fine. Just a little elimination if any CELS THATS IT.

definitly thanks for all the help so far.i'll let them know the info. after talking to them they did say they are goin to use my harness.. but they are goin to need an auto transmission from and obd1 h22a. not the auto odb2 transmission that comes on my h23a. does this make sence to anyone else? and if thats the case am i still using the pdf H23a computer that came with the engine or something else? remember guys im trying to keep this auto..
i already have civic that manual i wanna keep this as true to the jdm setup as possible

if your OBD1, and not converting to OBD2B, then no, you won't be using the PDF ecu.

Doesn't OBD1 use a separate TCM for the trans?
