Im going b20 vtec... any tips?
I finally found a good jdm engine to do a block swap for my B16. I have been looking for quite a while because I just hate the low torque of the b16. b16's are great engines but I need a little more tire chirpin action.
anyway point is.... I just wanted some advise from people that have been down this road before. My plan so far is keep the block stock use a blackworks vtec conversion kit with arp studs. I picked up a gates racing low temp thermostat to help a little with cooling, car will have a proper tune after install.
Can I use the stock injectors from the b16? I hear 310cc at a minimum but does anyone use stock ones? should I upgrade to a 255lph pump too?
I just wanted a few opinions from people that have done this swap and things they would have done different or things they think they did right...
Just a few tips from people who have been there done that type of thing. Please don't respond just to be a hater, take that **** somewhere different.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

no thats bs you can bring it up to 8200rpm's as long as you replace the pistons and rods and thanks you just started a thread that will soon be full of ppl arguing the best way to build this motor

ARP ROD BOLTS!!!!! The weakest part of the b20 block. Stock fuel pump is fine, stock injectors are also fine if your gonna keep it all stock. If you want bigger injectors get stock h22s they flow at 340cc if I remember correctly.
Really though you would have to give us more info on your goals/current mods to help you.

atleast upgrade the stock rod bolts to arp. the stock rods can be used, if money is an issue, but those stock b20 pistons are garbage if u want to make any decent power n/a. my advice, upgrade 2 higher compression pistons. I would personally carry the crank to a machine shop 2 get balanced as well, to ensure a safer operation at higher rpm's... i mean 7000 rpm redline?? come on.... 8000 the least...... depending on your driving style a girdle would also be a good thing to invest in. if u drive alot in the higher rpm's or plan 2 race this should be a necessity. u can never be too safe... these are the little things that will help your motor be more reliable and last longer.
hope this helps

stock block and head should work fine with stock injectors and fuel pump. here is a link that helped me: https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/how-build-%22reliable%22-lsvtec-b20vtec-1676914/
where do you get some pistons from, I tried looking lastnight for some rs machines or ycp pistons and apparently you can get a set for 180 plus shipping but all I could find is whats on ebay and they go for 300 plus.
any ideas?
oh ya thanks for the ARP rod bolt advice, thats exactly why I started this thread, I did not know they should be replaced.

and they build the engines, geez in stead of sitting here waiting on my response why dont you go look them up and see for yourself, they build monster engines, find them on youtube like i said, go see for yourself
You can remove the pistons and rods from the block without pulling the motor. But you need to have the rod bolts pressed in/out at a machine shop if you want it done right.
Do some research there is a how to build a reliable B20v thread.
-The biggest cams you can run in a stock bottom are ITR you just can't adjust the gears
-You don't have to replace the pistons if you plan on sticking with a OEM cam
-You can install ARP rodbolts with the rods in the car BUT you should take them out and have them resized from when you torque them down
-Your stock fuel system will work fine
- Also when you tap the head you either have to drill out the hole, or gradually grind off the threads on the tap.
good luck
