5th gen 5 lug conversion - parking brake won't hold
I Have a 97 LX and did the 5 lug conversion and everything works well with the exception of the parking brake. I have adjusted it as far as I could and on a hill (even a slight hill) the parking brake will not hold. I saw that someone listed the brake cable from a 5th gen EX accord as part of the list for the conversion. Is the ex accord brake cable that much different from the lx brake cable? Could this be the reason why the parking brake does not hold? Could there be something else that is causing this issue with the parking brake.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If you converted from rear drums to rear discs, you MUST change to the rear disc ebrake cables. I assume you have rear disc brakes as I don't imagine you did a 5 lug swap with rear drums. The EX brake cables should make everything work fine.
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, we did do a rear disc brake conversion as part of the 5 lug conversion.
Placed the order for the 97 EX Accord parking brake cable today. Depending on time, I should have it installed sometime next week.
Thanks again.

just curious, how did you even attach the drum emergency cable to the caliper? since the ends are different, it should not have mated to the caliper.
Thanks,

it's possible, but not likely. install the ex cables first, then adjust and operate the ebrake to see if you are squeezing the rotor with the caliper. you definitely need the ex cables for it to work at all. Once you put those in, you should only need to adjust the nut at the ebrake handle (since you will have to loosen it significantly to remove the lx cables.) If you still can't get it to work, you may have a bad caliper, but i doubt you do if you haven't installed the ex cables yet.
i had a question my self ... i doing a 5 lug conversion on my 96 db8 and the rear ebrakes cables seem to not reach a inch more to attach to the calipers, i was wonderig do i need to replace the e brakes cables or just change the calipers?
