transmission internals JDM y1 same as YS1?
So i'm rebuilding my jdm y1 lsd trans took it apart and found i had broken 3rd selector fork.
Question is what do i order for??? Is it the same as the 90-93 integra YS1 i'm gonna assume so but would like confirmation

Answer, NO
The Y1 is common for problems, and is a 1st gen tranny with smaller mainshaft. The company GearSpeed caters to making new carbon syncro upgrade kits for that unique jdm gearbox.
The YS1 used the newer large style mainshaft design found in all 1992-2001 Integra and over seas b series civic's. Both the vtec YS1 in the US and JDM spec trannies are the same, with the exception of the jdm version having the rare option of lsd

Deetz is the exact person to answer this question.
Ok so if i do want to rebuild this trans where do i order the shifter forks from???
Now can i swap the close ratio gears from the y1 into a ys1 case???
I am building a YS1 4.9mfactory with type r LSD and mfactory carbon syncrhos.
Wanted to rebuild the y1 as a spare.

The transmission forks with be the same as any 90-93 Intgera tranny......the internal gear is unique, and that is why i highly recommend you contact gearspeed for their carbon syncro upgrade. The JDM gears can't be had at a local dealer.

The YS1 does have the same crossover parts between jdm and usdm, and any parts car be had over the counter. They are different from all internal Y1 parts, and not interchangable

So u say that the mainshaft is different?? So can i use the ys1 mainshaft/inputshaft and then use the mfactory 4.9 countershaft with the y1 gears on it?
I have done this similarly before in d series trans i used an 88 input shaft and a 91 countershaft and mixed gears till it worked.
Anyone every tried putting the y1 gears onto a ys1 countershaft. I'm gonna try unless you can say for sure that the counteshaft for sure is different.
If the forks are interchangable from YS1 to y1 then i should be able to interchange the gears. The bearings on the end of the countershaft form YS1 are for sure different from Y1.
Anmyway i'll let you know my progress.

You are correct sir. The input shaft is about 1inch shorter than the ys1.
So i guess this trans is now LS gearing m factory 4.9 type LSD with m factory carbon syncrhos in a YS1 case
Anyone wanna buy a Y1 trans with a broken 3rd/4th fork with lsd.

So answer me this since i am going now to the YS1 trans.
I read a thread that the Y1 starter is different???
Also is the clutch different do i need a YS1 clutch both splines have 24 teeth.
Is the flywheel different???? Need to rule out these questions soon.

Flywheels are the same for all 1990-2001 Integra, except the type r which fots the same, just lighter
YS1 uses the larger mainshaft, so ANY clutch from 1992-2001
Starter, i'm not sure about

Deetz you should publish a Y1 FAQ. I think i have now read everything i can find on this trans and when i bought this motor had no idea what a piece of junk it has become.
So just to add to the Y1 info. The clutch is different than a YS1, The shaft size is different 24 splines but different shaft size. Pilot bearing is the same though.
I have to order a YS1 clutch to make sure it is the just the clutch that is different not the pressure plate and flywheel as well.
