Default 98 Accord Rust woes

hi
I am new to this site, I have a 1998 Accord and the wheel rims on both rear wheels have rusted badly, does anyone have any idea of where I might buy pre-formed sheet metal parts to get them repaired and roughly how much I might expect to pay for such a job

Do you mean the actual rim that the tire mounts to, or do you mean the wheel well/fender/body panels? for the front, just replace the fenders, for the rear, you may be able to find patch panels on the internet, but I have never looked for any. Replacing the front fenders is very easy to do, but the rear would be pretty expensive to have done right, probably 400-500 per side if i had to guess. I do lots of body work and paint, but we don't see too much rust-through where I'm from.

if its just rust on the actual rim just use a wire brush or sandblast it and re-pain it. but remove the rust. maybe the car was in karina and got left sitting with wet wheels hat rusted eventualy

If the wheel is rusted that badly, replace it. It is a safety item.

I'm on the west coast too. I don't see much rust on cars. Though, I am planning on a move to the upper east coast, I expect to see much rust. heh.

i see. the best bet it the body shop. i do know a guy who got a junk yard to let him plasma cut these out since he had a moble set up. costed him like 25 bucks and he tig welded them on his car as patch panels. came out good too after paint. but since he had skills and the tools he saved lots of cash. see what a body shop will charge you but i believe its gonna be expensive. good luck

Your best bet is patch panels. It is pretty expensive, you're looking at $400+ a side, not including paint. You have to cut out the surrounding area and weld in the new ones.

Also, bondo, but it doesn't work out too well, the rust comes back sooner or later.
