Default should i do this swap seriously?

this shop down the road from me wants 3gs for this

b16a 1st gen swap with ys1 pr3 (he claims the motor is from canada, i know that the candian sir just did exict, the ecu has a nippon motor tag, so i think he is full of it,) the motor is out of a 88 rex si and the kid only put 7k on this motor, the swap wasnt done by this shop it was done by some shady kid, but this shop fixed the swap up good. Now u ask why is he selling it, the car has some front end damage and is basically body wize shot.

now for 3gs i can get
b16a1 - 38k miles ys1 (he claims a usdm tranny 92-93 gsr? how can i tell)
stage 3 clutchmaster clutch, dc header, with two o2 sensors, the secondary is lost? where do i get a new one? and doesnt the primary one sit back farther?
hasport vtec subharness, clutch and throttle cable, hasport mounts new axels all installed with new fluilds for 3gs

this shop is new but they seem good, they just finished a turbo g2 teg when i got there, it seems liek a good deal and the guy is mad chill i saw 3 rexes there so i trust him and he knows his ****

should i do it?

thanks for any help

Before you do anything, ask them to get a compression test done. That way you'll at least know if the engine still has some life in it.

Other than that, $3k installed doesn't sound bad at all (if every part is in good shape). I mean, think about it. The headers, Hasport Mounts & wire harness, plus the clutch and new axles are worth over $1,000 alone. I'm sure you know that B16A's usually cost about $1,500 for all of the hardware. It's like you're only paying a shop $500 to install a motor... That's not bad if you ask me.

I'd say go for it, IF those compression numbers look good.

EDIT: Keep in mind that I have not done a B16 swap.

I agree, but instead of a compression test, do a leakdown test. A compression test will tell you if the engine leaks compression. A leakdown test will tell you how much it's leaking and where it's leaking from. But yeah, it sounds like a good deal if it passes leakdown.

not too familiar with canadian vehicles, but if you're from canada, and say sir doesn't exist... then that seems a little shady to me.
