Default Si Cluster in 91 STD

I have a 91 Civic Standard
I am trying to put a 91 civic si cluster in it, i put it in and everything is different,
i know that they are plug and play with the dx models cause i plugged it into my friends 91 civic hatch dx and it worked fine, but when i went to plug it in to my 91 civic dx sedan, it doesnt work. I looked at all the pinouts in the plug and they are the same as a dx.
So i do not understand why it wouldnt work. Does anybody know how to make the si cluster work in a standard ef civic?
Thanks.
