I was wondering if I can get some cam caps on another ls or will it run wierd thanks
At least some one knows what there talking about here, take the head and cam caps to the machine shop and have them line bore the caps and redo the head and whatever else you want to do with it.
You can probably find a complete LS head for cheaper than the machine shop will charge you to line bore yours. I'd consider a head with missing cam caps a paper weight.

i dont see anything in my service manual about having the cam caps line bored, but ill ask around
then dont line bore it and have your cams seize in the head, snap the tbelt and smash the tops of your pistons. ls heads are paperweights to begin with. try and find a b16 head for cheap somewhere
I don't have specifications, nor have I ever had anything line bored. Mostly because I keep track of my parts and wouldn't consider buying a head with missing caps.
The reason you can't just use cam caps from another head is because during the casting/machining process, they are cut after the bore is made. Because of this, a cap from another head (or even mismatched from the same head) will never fit the same. That is why you can't just go buy one from Honda.
I'm not here to talk ****. Have people used mismatched parts and got away with it? Sure. That still doesn't make it right and can cause big problems.
To the OP, people practically give away LS heads. Just find a complete one and be done with it.

I am not picking sides, but you didn't give him the specs....And a answer like that is very childish.
Honestly, I have never heard of such a thing. I have swapped out cam caps at least four or five times. Why? When one gets dinged inside, I toss it and swap it out. I nevered had any issues...But, I could be wrong...

like i said, on the engine rebuild section of my 94 service manual, theres nothing about cam caps needing to be honed or line bored
talked to a buddy of mine and he said its possible if you dont have them line bored that it could clamp down on the cam too tight if its not the proper spec, sometimes they can be taller or shorter, so id talk to a machine shop about it, strange though that i dont see any specifications for it in the service manual
Here's the issue I have with the clearance spec... When you mismatch parts that a bore was cut through, even if the plastigauge seems ok, there is no way that the mismatched bore will be round.
The specs are there to make allowances when the cam has been wearing evenly in that journal. There is no way you can take a cap that has worn in a different engine and have the bore still be true.
Yes people have done it without problems, but it's still not right.

you must have a sad past with experiences of non vtec setups cause i run non vtec to show peeps that it can walk vtec setups without expensive mods. i have a link to my vids for proof
