hi all i just got back from deployment and i started driving my car and when ever i brake i have this really big rattle in my steering wheel i just got my tires rotated and balanced what you think it could be maybe the rotors???? thanks for the help!!!

 

The brake rotors could be warped. You can have them resurfaced and that should help to reduce the vibration.

is there anything else that could be making the brake pedal and steering wheel shake kind of hard when the brakes are pressed?

 

When was the last time you had brake work done? If your car vibrates only when the brakes are applied then you most likely have warped rotors.

 

Its either your pads or rotors...more than likely your rotors though... so take the oppurtunity to upgrade both and it will go away...

 

sweet ill go ahead and check on the rotor and upgrade but first ill check rotors to see if warped. ill keep you posted if anything else happens thanks guys!

 

repair in break rotor pad, can remove that noise from your vehicle, i hope you have not so much of use of your vehicle, generally, this problem comes because of this only.

 

ok today while driving the rattling and noise got really bad when i was on freeway but this weekend i will not be using my vic! could it be an alighnment issue?

 

Have you checked your tires...if you fixed your rotors and breaks check your tires for a bubble if not next would be bearings...

 

Look, it has been stated a few times now. REPLACE YOUR ROTORS AND PADS AND THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY.

 

Actually... my steering wheel would vibrate severely when I would get on the brakes anywhere from 60-80mph. I recently replaced the suspension, motor mounts and the compliance bushings (on the lower control arms) and the problem went away. I still have some vibrating when I get on the brakes from the rotors having uneven wear and hot spots but the problem is nothing like it was before.

My car has 113k miles on it by the way.

You need to fix the cause of the problem before you start replacing every bushing on your car.

And if you're still skeptical about whether or not to replace the rotors, it takes 2 minutes to remove the wheel and use a dial indicator to measure the run-out on the rotors. That will tell you if/how badly they are warped.

Thing is, you did not "fix" your car, because in your post you clearly state that you STILL HAVE SHAKING ISSUES due to warped rotors.

 

Whatever dude...new rotors are like $40 bucks, how much did all that other stuff cost to replace??

 

my car is in the shop now and im getting the rotors turned! cant wait till its back haha but it was cheaper than getting brand new rotors and pads!
