Default answer yes: front drivers side mount worthless

Ok not the mount up top, the little part that connects to the bottom of the frame where the windsheild resevoir is. Isn't this just for vibration?

I broke the stock one dropping the motor out and don't want to have to get another one.

NO.

You need that mount to keep your motor parallel with the ground.

Or run your car hard without it and tell us what happens.

This is because the EG+ never came with the front crossmember mount ? Does this mean that HASport and all those other EF B series mount makers arent doing the right thing by eliminating the 4rth mount ? Or is the issue remedied by the stronger mounts ?

A long time ago, Jason 'Katman' Kaplan went racing and did not have that mount. His upper motor mount broke somehow and the motor moved enough to destroy the driveshaft. He vowed to put that lower mount in from then on.

See now this is waht I'm saying. Most b16 swaps into crx's do not have the front mount or that a/c mount. Just the three mounts and everything is fine. I don't care about dents in my hood or paint coming off my valve cover.

well, I have never looked into the crx's but i know on the 92+ civics, what happens is the motor torques hard enough to hit your hood, which can't be good, i mean whats good about the engine moving that much, especially if Jason Kaplan messed up bunch of stuff, I think there may be more to it than just a dent and paint chipping, Honda put a mount in there for a reason......maybe the way it mounts in the crx is different flex points or something, i can't answer on that one...but on 92+ civics etc.....i dont think leaving the mount off is smart....no matter how much you care less about a dent or paint.

i only have 3 mounts in my b16a eg, i'm using all place racing polyurethane bushings in all the mounts. the motor sits intact and its so stiff the the vibration of the motor is transfered to the car itself. kinda anoying but i got use to it. peace

a friend of mine bought his car and it had the dents, and i knew the guy who owned it before him. the guy who had owned it before had the swap done and he showed it to me and i asked, where is the mount, and he told me that the guys who put it in said "you dont need that mount man!" he had some nice dents in his hood too. and you may not care about the dents in the hood or the valve cover, but you should care about your other mounts, tranny, clutch and all the other things that can break with the motor moving that much.

LOL!!! I remember that. Axle grease puked all over his engine bay and the sharp ends of the bolts that hold the mount to the engine hit and destroyed the cam gears (cut valve cover). It was a real mess.

So yes, you should use the mount. If you broke the rubber piece its not too hard to replace from a junk yard.

Well, what are you asking for then? Looks like you have your answer. For a part that's only $30 brand new from the dealer or probably $5-10 from a junkyard I think it's worth it. The moron that did the swap in my car didn't put it there and my hood is dented. Those are the mounts that the poly inserts go in and they make a huge difference. If you don't care about the dents in your hood or the damage all the excess vibration can do then don't bother.

Those torque mounts are very cheap and they arent that hard to find. Think sometimes man...why go through the headache of breaking things. I hope your car isn't force inducted or you in for some BIG problems.

Ok ok I'll go get one. And yes, I'm forced induction in a fairly major way.
