Icon6 Best way to replace a door lock?

Ok so I have an EJ1, and someone tried to steal it from the guy I bought it from a few months before I owned it. Apparently they tried by knocking the door-lock cylinder out (the part that the key goes into to unlock it) and it's no longer there, just a hole. I searched for a while on this now and I can't really find a straight answer.

I know I'm not the only person to ever have this problem, so for those of you that have had to deal with this what's the best way to fix it? Will it involve having a separate key just for that door that's different than all the other locks on the car?

You could either go to pick n pull and have the key people there mess around with some locks to match it with your key or you can buy new locks and take it apart and match it with your key. There's some diys online.

You mean buying a new lock for just the one door, and "configuring" it to match up to my current key? That doesn't sound too bad.

Are there any other ways?

You can just go the easy, yet more annoying route of owning an extra key for the doors.

Just buy a door lock set from AZ. No configuration, just an extra key.

I'd like to avoid having to carry around an extra key just for the driver's door lock if I can.

Not to sound unappreciative of the previous advice, I do appreciate the replies so far but does anyone else have any suggestions that don't involve carrying an extra key?

Go to pick n pull. Get another lock. Go to the key person and have them match the lock up with your key.

Locksmith is the only way to go unless you want to change all your locks.
It is not hard to change the locks including the ignition and you could probably pick up a set for not much more than you would spend going the other way.

I was in the same boat, my trunk lock didnt match the rest of my locks. I got an extra lock from a junk yard and re-pinned the locks, its really easy.

this helped me a lot:

You wouldn't carry an extra key for just one door. They come in sets of two. You'd just replace both door locks.

when i baught my integra it had a different key for the ignition. i got used to it, then i swapped doors cause one was dammaged, the lock is easy enough to install, as long as the peice that the lockring holds onto isnt dammaged.
