Default From 15" to 16"

Hey guys,

I'm about to get some 16" wheels and I currently have 15". If my current tires are 195/60/R15, what size tires should I be putting on the 16" wheels?

Thanks

The stock size on the 2005 Civic is
185/70-14 Civic DX
195/60-15 Civic LX
195/60-15 Civic EX
205/55-16 or 215/45-17 Civic Si

Since your car came with 195/60-15, the best 16" size is 205/50-16.

I would go with 215/50-16, which is only about .3" taller than OE.

What kind of tire you are thinking about getting?

I would stick with 205/50-16 rather than 215/50-16, for several reasons. One is the possibility of rubbing, with a tire that is larger than stock in diameter as well as in tread width. Another is that 205/50-16 is closer in diameter to stock than 215/50-16 (0.6 percent smaller rather than 1.0 percent larger). Another is that there is plenty of selection of tires in 205/50-16 so there's no need to get the oversized tires for that reason. Another is that the larger tires will reduce acceleration (through effective gearing as well as weight). And they may be more expensive too. Lots of reasons to get 205 rather than 215.
