My 85 & 87 Honda CRX Si Project *Daily Beater*
Now I have 2 CRX's, a 1985 CRX Si and 1987 CRX Si. I will be taking parts from the 87 CRX Si and transferring it to the 85 CRX. I will be registering it soon and once that is all done, then I will be debatiing if I should keep it as an Daily beater or sell it and pick up an Mazda Miata as a beater. We'll see where it goes from there.
I also have the carfax on this thing. It's been everywhere!!! Hawaii, Colorado, California, and ect.
Parts I will be taking from 87 CRX Si:
-Front Bumper
-Side Fenders
-Side skirts
-Rear Bumper and that little metal Lip below the tail lights
-Rear Trunk with deleted holes and whipers
-87 Si Rims
-KYB Shocks/Springs
-K&N Filter
-Battery
-Some interrior parts
I will be posting up pictures of the progress. I hope that you guys will enjoy. :p
My DC5 is my Track car now and the 85 CRX is going to be my Daily beater.

wow. i would not transfer any parts the 85 unless necessary. the 85's in black are pretty rare, not to mention are lighter and i think personally look better than the 86-87's. you'll also have to switch out bumper supports too and more than likely headlights, which means you'll have to custom make headlight mounting brackets. it's a shame someone already ditched the 85 Si spoiler cause they really look nice.
if you're just going to sell it, don't swap parts. it will be a grave waste of time to a nice car. i'd use one of these as your track car as the DC has a terrible rear suspension for track usage..

As for my DC5, its already track set up and I already have my car handling like. Pretty much suspension work is done. My DC5 is setted up for oversteer, and you'd be amazed how my car handles.
-Buddy Club Racing Spec Damper Coilover
-Buddy Club Roll Center Adjusment Ball Joint
-Buddy Club Rear Camber Kit
-Stop Tech Stainless Steel Brake Lines
-ITR 22mm Rear Sway
-Custom Rear Fender Roll
-Energy Suspension Lower Bushings (Front & Rear)
this is "ballade"'s 85 Si from Redpepperracing.. it looks awesome to me. :D

hope he doesn't mind me snaggin his picture..
i've always wanted to track a DC5, but have been told horror stories from a lot of the guys that run them that you have to get the rear spring rates up into the 1200lb rate to actually get them to rotate. i was talking to Real Time about there setup and they were running 3000lb rear springs just hoping for coil bind.. which is strange, buy oh well. i think the DC5 would be a great daily for me. hehee.
good luck with the hatch swap.

First thing I thought of when I read your first post: Ballade from RPR!
If that pics doesn't inspire you to leave the '85 the way it is, I don't know WHAT will!
But if you do decide to make it an 86-87, the dude who (IMO) writes the book is David (1gencrx) from RPR. I took a lot of "design cues" from him. His car is currently on the mainpage for redpepperracing.com right now, with a cop sitting behind him. Peep the Mr. Invisible's ZC-bump replica hood if you check it out.
Here's my in process 86-87, with mucho-inspiration from David's rex:

You should really become a member over there. People are very cool, mature, and incredibly knowledgeable/helpful. We'll make a 1G-lover out of you in know-time!
