am i able to swap out my 89 crx si dash harness for my 91 civic si dash harness?my crx harness is all cut up and i want to convert it to 90-91 anyways

 

i don't see any problem with that, i'm pretty sure it'll be plug-and-play, if there's any difference between the two harnesses, it won't be a big enough difference that you can't make it work.

 

no there are differences. the wiring for the gauge cluster, the location and possibly the connector of the hazard lights plus the connectors and location for the things like the brightness adjustment and defroster switch.

also if you want to convert to 90-91 you will have to swap out the under dash/chassis harness and the engine harness. all must be 90-91 for everything to be plug and play.

so can it be made to work, of course, most anything can, but is it plug and play, no.

 

thats what im trying to do i just said dash harness.which means all the harness in the dash.that cnnects to the engine harness.i want to usemy civic cluster and climate contol

 

also when using the civic vs. crx harness, there is one connector in the very upper left hand corner under the dash that is different. I'm not 100% on which connector it is but the don't match up.

 

IIRC it is one of these 3 connectors.

 

i converted my 88's dash harness to the 90-91 style. it was easy. i'm about to make a write up for it here in a few

 

but did you go 88-89 crx to 90-91 crx or did you go 88-89 crx to 90-91 civic? like i said before, with going from crx to civic there is a difference.

cause I'm converting my crx from 88-89 to 90-91 and it works fine but I am using the 90-91 crx harness not the 90-91 civic harness.

it can be made to work for sure probably by depinning and repinning the different connector. i'm just giving a heads up that it needs to be addressed.

 

oh well i went civic to civic. my best advice would be to sit down with both harnesses and just trace wires. that's how i did it.

 

alright just to clear things up im gonna be using a civic si cluster and climate control and other things that use the civic harness in my crx.so most of it should be plug and play right? it would be a crx with civic si ****

 

alright so if i swap out the under dash harness that connects cluster climate control etc.do i have to swap out the cabin harness that connect rear lights rear blinkers and etc???and do i have to swap out the harness that connect the ecu to the engine harness???remember its a si it runs the same motor as a civic si.

 

alright so i have concluded that for the 91 civic si dash harness to work in a 89 crx si you would have to swap every single harness in the cabin.if you dont want to depin and repin the connectors.so im just gonna convert my 89 crx si harness to run my civic si cluster and repair all the cut up wires.anybody got the pinouts for the cluster plugs for 89 crx si and 91 civic si?
