Default **2_Envy's DB8 - Teardown.BuildUp**

Whats up fellas! Yes, its another build thread. Yes, i know i said id keep my last car (92 Si) BUT i now have this! 1994 Acura Integra GS-R (sedan). GF wasnt happy about it, but me sellin my Si and buying this GS-R, she got a $500 cut so that made her happy. AND ive still got play money (or so i thought).

Anyway, on to the car. SO i picked this gem up for $1,500. yes $1,500. The kid deffinatly didnt know what he had.

CLEAN title DB8. 111xxxmi on the orginal cluster & title.
Even though its a GS-R, the motor had been pulled and a JDM B18B motor was put in. Short gear ratio, not sure if its GS-R or B16. Tokico illumina's w/ H&R springs. pretty clean. i kept my GT-3's from my Si. enough talkin, heres the DB

mmmmmm GT-3's. i c red & green, must be x-mas

not gunna lie, i <3 the fart can angled out

that was the night i got it. shortly after i went searching for parts!
got a sunroof visor and some bumper lights

naked

sexi!

no lights FTL

i wish i had Si-Vtec's or amber ones, but stock will do

funny lil sticker

after that i called it a night. carwash was next. right after work.

soo the next day came. i went to work. right after work i went and got some gas. started heading home for a car wash when the oil light started flashing!

then came on a soild OIL light! i quickly shut off the engine and pulled over. checked my oil and it turned out just fine. i started it back up.. . . . .. . . . . no oil light . started my way back home again, relieved. 30seconds later, soild oil light comes on and right after the sound of *knock *knock *knock! drove all the way back home that way.

i think the problem was a failing oil pump or sumthing invloving the oil. sad. i know. only after about 48hrs of owner ship. working 7days aweek/ 2jobs. deffinatly not a good time. and this being my only car. *sigh.

i guess you'd expect me to sell it off right now, but this is where it gets good!

Now starts the surgery. I searched for a motor or a block that i could use and would be in my budget. Got ahold of a B18a1 from a friend. Completely rebuilt/cleaned. not to mention this a1 is rockin ITR pistons and a B16 oilpump. This block should be good as it was built by a highly respected local honda guy. so i have no doubts on this motor. and for $300. seems like a deal to me. Also, sold my GT-3's to help fund this JDM emergency.

i was just going to do this as fast as i can and get it on the road again, but then thought it through some more and decied that i might as well take my time, do it RIGHT, and do it NICE.

so now the plan is to
-Clean up the block
-Swap all neccessary components from the B18B to the B18a1 (head, tranny, etc.)
-Clean the engine bay
-Mild wire tuck/Engine harness tuck (since the motor is out anyway)

and get it back on the road running like it should.

tear down begins... .

messy engine bay

thats enough for one day. Doing this all bymyself and maybe a helping hand later once the motor gets out.

picked up front and rear mudflaps and also a Fidanza flywheel

lots more updates to come guys. leave me some love. +/- comments welcome

tell ya the truth, it sounds like 10 little exhaust leaks so by the time it hits the fart can there isnt much exhaust to make noise. lol. seriously i just lifter the cat so i could tie the linkage together so i could roll the car around but its just fell off. the cat just fell off. like the "clamps" werent even tight. *sigh. searching for a stock b series header.

the reason my exhaust is the way it is, im assuming. the previous owner wanted these mad tyte 4-2-1 headers. BUT they're for a 90-93 integra, NOT for a 94+. difference is that the 90-93 bottom half of the headers are shorter in length. so once they put on the headers they realized. o snap. we needa extend the stock exhaust. from there on they FCKD it up. *sigh.

anyway got the motor out =D

Fellow db owner. Any db build thread is better than no db build thread . Keep up the work. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread

Do you live in a housing area? That kind of looks like a business area. Do you plan to do anything to the bay?
