Default suspension install pics

got the koni yellows and h&r race springs on...the pictures of the car dropped arent developed yet, so ill update it later....

comparison of the rear springs/shocks

front suspension finally out!

didnt know how to put that thing that holds the brake line from the front strut onto the new strut, so i just put the spring on at first...i got the konis on now though, i just zip-tied the brake line out of the way.

front springs/struts - thats my boy who helped me with the install

struggling with the ghetto spring compressor - that was the hardest part of the install, compressing the stock springs

heres me workin on the rears, man we worked for a whole day straight to get all four on

pic of the fronts just on the springs...no shocks, and no cut bump stops, which is what i did later on.

last one...just a pic of my gsr skunk2 shifter! i love it ~

Nice... how does it handle? I am looking at getting H&R Race Springs on Bilsteins in a month or two.

handles very nicely, but i have extreme negative camber wear and messed up toe, and some pretty cheap tires, so i still havent tested out the full potential..

your suspension is only as good as your tires, remember that...

That spring compressor thing is useless. If all you are trying to do is remove your spring, then all you have to do is take off the upper shock mount nut, and release the spring from the shock while the wheels are still stlightly touching the ground. That way when you raise the car, and lower the control arms, the spring will allready be loose.

So using that method could you put on coil-overs with never needing a spring compressor?

your suspension is only as good as your tires, remember that...
this quote is not true...

a poor suspension setup with nice tires is worse than a stock suspension on nice tires...

true, good tires do matter... but all in all it's a combination of the following:
anti-swaybars
bushings
shocks
springs
tires
bracing
PROPERLY adjusted ride height and alignment settings

(not in any particular order)

if any of those are missing, you won't have the best handling possible...

nice setup you got, though..

i found a couple of pics of the ride after the shocks/springs install...some of them arent too good, but you get the idea.

i cut the bump stop in half, and also im on 185/65/14 tires, not the stock 185/60/14 tires...

thats it..its really low now, i cant even fit a finger in the fronts, and only one finger in the back...

May I suggest your next mod be a camber kit and a good alignment. Or else say goodbye to your tires.

I never use a spring compressor to take off the springs, just put a rag over the end and hold it against a 2x4 and let it shoot. Talk about ghetto hehe.

also, I'd rather take a nice set of tires and decent suspension then bad *** suspension and cheap tires ANY DAY. it's the tires that make the difference

no doubt, im gonna let it wear the tires i have on right now. until they are worn, im gonna wait to put my brand new falkens on along with the camber kit.

you can change/design your suspension setup to work with the amount of grip your tires can create.

ghetto spring compressor = two cinder blocks on each side of the shock and spring and breaking the strut bolt loose as the combination pushes the blocks apart.

Damn that is low!!! Any better shots? And what's up with the pic in your avatar?

I want my rear fender gap to dissappear, but the front is cool as is...I have neuspeed sports.

The driver's side gap is even with the lip of the fender, and the passenger side is about 3/4" higher...which I hate, but I understand is normal.
