Default '89 CRX Brake Work

Recently my brakes were making a grinding sound and then at one stop a piece of the pad and clip broke off (I think it was part of the pad I could be wrong). Anyway, now my car is jacked up in my driveway waiting to take off the calipers to see exactly what I broke off, but I can't figure out how to take the calipers off. Autozone's diagram shows 2 bolts to take out so the caliper lifts up, but mine only has 1 on the bottom. Anyone have the same year CRX and could tell me how to fix this? Any more info needed just ask. I can also take pics if needed.

I miss driving my car, I've been driving my dads and it sucks.

Thats probably why you were grinding & throwing chunks. One of those bolts may have backed out. happens sometimes.

I only have 1 on both sides. The pieces that broke off, one lookedl ike the clip for the brake pad and the other looked like part of the actual brake pad itself.

there should be a total of 4 bolts that have anything to do with attaching the calipers. you will have 2 17mm bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the spindle and 2 12mm bolts that hold the caliper to the caliper bracket.

with the 2 12mm bolts, the one that is the upper most bolt needs to be taken out to lift the caliper up off the rotor to replace the pads. the caliper will pivot on the other bolt still attached to the caliper bracket.

I only have 1 12mm bolt attached to each caliper, the bottom of the caliper and no 12mm at the top. The 2 17mm are both there though.

I figured something out. My left one comes up when I take the one 12mm bolt out and I can get to the brake pad. The right brake (which is the one I think broke), I can get the one 12mm bolt out but the caliper won't coem up like the left side. It's stuck no matter what I do.
