have never heard of this for cars. now diesel trucks yes. cleaning the pipes on diesels can help reduce the particulate matter output and help a truck pass smog (an opacity smoke test for the psip-periodic snap inspection program) but on cars i have never heard of this. also for diesels with diesel particulate filters having too much back pressure and setting off the filter element service light on the in dash monitor, cleaning the pipes can help

oh and catalatic converters can be cleaned by thermo-regeneration and pulse cleaning. this is heating up to between 1000 and 1300 degrees (F), and holding it there for 4-7 hours. and then using air blasts (high pressure-low velocity) to clean the particulate matter(PM) out. however being that these devices for diesels costs about $10,000 each, these cleanings are worth the costs. a new cat would be cheaper for your car. one of these services would cost about $400.00

buddy I'm talinkg about an illegal smog. my car doesn't pass smog because it has illegal mods. so someone with a smog license puts the pipe in a clean car so it passes smog.

yeah i see you edited you origional thread post now so you could better get your point across. i happen to know alot about diesel emission stuff as you can tell. diesel engines in cali are not required to test for smog yet (required in 2012), but comercial trucking does not apply to the exemption....basically buddy. i work with CARB. you wont find info on your question mostly. oh-if you do find one, i get a bonus for catching them. i'll give you $500. (obviously i get more) let me know who they are

bro, just keep a bunch of your stock stuff when you mod. i have a catalytic converter that hangs on the wall, when i need to smog i swap my cat-pipe out for the catalytic converter. also going to be installing a few other things that aren't exactly street legal, anything that isn't legal that i install will have it's legal counterpart stored so i can swap it all back in every 2 years for smog purposes. other than that, all you gotta do is tune your car so all your numbers are right, the computer THINKS it's blowing the right emissions and find a smog shop that is lazy or stupid enough not to fail your car on the visual inspection.

see this is how you do it. when i test something like a diesel truck...as long as its within the limit when i test thats all that concerns me. i could care less if they start modifying the truck right after i test it. it already passed my test. but finding a lazy shop that misses the mods for the visual inspection, i dont know how common that is now. i'm sure they are still out there though. but the smog equipment though. it will save you the headache
