Hey everyone, I just picked up a 1990 EF hatch with the D15 dp-fi engine in it and an auto trans for $700. Im having one big issue and that is that it shuts down while driving. So i went back to driving my Ferio while i work on it, i changed the cap and rotor spark plugs and main relay, i dont know what else to do...
I can let it run and it runs fine but after 10mins if i touch the throttle it dies and wont re start but when i checked the coil for power it read 12v and it in theory should start but it just cranks and never fires
I have no idea what to do and id really like to get it fixed because im giving the car to my brother for his 16th birthday if i can fix this problem in a timely manner, otherwise im gonna put my D15B into it, but id like to keep my engine in my Ferio rather than put it in the EF..
any help is much appreciated guys.

 

check your timing and test the coil and ignitor inside the dizzy...!!!

 

I would check for spark and fuel after it won't restart. Could be any number of things: main relay, fuel pump, coil, igniter, etc...

 

check the ignition, if the pump fails there out, coil and ignitor are the same way, main relay you said you cange out, so i would check the wires to the ignition or posible internal failure in the ignition it self. timming wont do that.

 

Might want to check the ICM
