Default p72 Hondata s100 Install

I just removed the ECU from my Civic and the Hondata chip was bouncing around inside. I opened ECU and can't find the spot where it connects. Can I get a little help? Thanks.

CN2, almost dead center of the ECU.

Awesome, thank you. Does it need to be soldered in? I was under the impression that the s100 needed to be soldered and I don't see any evidence of that.

You'll see a 4 pin header, which the header of the s100 plugs into.

I would point you to the manual, but it seems they've removed the photos.

That's exactly what I thought, but wasn't sure since the Hondata header had 8 holes while the ECU header only had 4. You've been a great help, thanks a lot!

When you hear that it needs to be soldered in, they are refering to the 4 pin header. It gets soldered into the ECU (along with the other items). The S100 module simply plugs into this now soldered into place 4 pin header.

You don't. Someone (A dealer for instance) that still has the S200 package does and burns a chip when they're finished.

You don't get to do that with an S100. You can get the software and make changes, but you won't be able to datalog. You'd need an S200 or S300 for full scale tuning features.

Just to clear things up - The S200 is no longer available unless you buy one used. Despite the higher cost, if you want to tune on your own (AND KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING) I'd recommend to go with the Hondata S300 on a boosted car. It will really simplify things and is very trouble free. You could even sell your S100 ECU setup to someone looking for one and buy a complete ECU with the S300 already installed like this one http://www.hamotorsports.com/s300obd1ecu.html

Due to your ecu being socketed already, the easiest & most affordable solution would be a neptune daemon module. http://www.phearable.net/shoppingcar...ages-p-40.html

The next most afforable option would be a hondata s300 system pre-installed in an obd1 vtec ecu & selling your s100 ecu bundle

What JR is trying to say, is you would have to pay $195 for the romeditor software/package & you still wouldn't be able to datalog without an s200 module that is capable of doing so.

In other words, the s100 module is designed for you to have your car tuned by a hondata dealer as he mentioned before... (repeating what he said).
