Have an ITR what do?
Hey guys,
just recently got ITR and I'm relatively noob & want to do some stuff to it, its currently completely stock and wondering what sites etc i should check out for stuff. Looking to lower it with super low springs (but only still want legal height of 10cm somehow?, also curious as to how picky they are and how much the super-lows will actually lower it, have been told like 4")
Also looking to take the stock "mini" spoiler off it, and will probably replace it with some white screw grommets (unsure if this will work please provide your POV).
Also am putting some red interior neon's in it activated with a switch (just to hide from Mr Plod) and some upholstery to match.
But yeah give us some feedback and help us out aye

I suggest driving it and living with it for a few months, just like it is, before you do anything to it.
And if you lower the car by 4", you're going to be scraping the bottom every time you go over a bump - LOL! Sounds like you're intent on ruining another Type R. But hey, it's your car, you can make it into crap if you want - go for it!

Despite this being an ITR, I have a feeling this topic is better suited for the Integra forum. I'll let it go briefly and see how things transpire.
I'm assuming you're in Australia, from your location?

It'd be my first ITR but had grown up around it, so pretty familiar. I imagine your exaggerating somewhat about the bumps, because driving over bumps has never been a "problem" before and as fer turning my car into crap, well ive never really experienced that.

Yeah Aussie reportingg inn. okk, thought this forum was specific for ITR's?
Hi there,
If you're gonna lower it I would suggest coilovers even though they are technically illegal for street use here in Aus, I havent had any problems though.
Btw you got pics? and what number have you got, or is it a DC5?

Yeeeeaaah, it is, but the kind of modifications you're talking about are not really the kind that ITR owners typically make, and are not specific to anything Type R-related (as opposed to something in the engine, for example). To be blunt, I can see this going badly and you getting the crap flamed out of you with cat pictures galore. If you'd like it to stay here regardless, that's fine.
I will also agree with Ken (nsxtasy) that lowering the car by 4" will make it ride and handle like crap. The shocks will be bottoming out, the upper control arms will be all over the shock towers, and your geometry will be totally f*cked. That's just the physics side of it, disregarding anything subjective.

Ok...
It would be a better investment to get a nice set of coilovers rather than springs. 4 inches is a drastic drop and would not do anything good for your ITR. I recommend bringing your vehicle to a professional performance alignment shop after you get your height the way you think it should be. Then ask the alignment guy what he recommends. if theyre legit, they wont let you drive away 4 inches lower than stock!
As for the neons, not my taste and i can probably vouch for the majority of ITR owners and say its a cheap ricer thing to do. but if you want to do it, its your car.
As for the spoiler, i am a little sacreligious myself and took my R's wing off about a month after owning it. But im just not a big spoiler fan. to each there own
Finally, i will have to agree with nsxtasy... you should really just drive your ITR for a month or two before changin anything at all. this way you can get a good feel for the car... and maybe those thoughts of neons and superdumped will fade away.

Oh and i forgot to mention... if you take the wing off please dont just plug the holes. Buy another hatch, have it shaved, and resprayed and then swap the hatches. You can always put the original hatch with the wing back on. This way you dont ruin the original hatch! Thats what i did. Swapping hatches isnt difficult either.
Dont be surprised by the responses you get here... all ITR owners like to treat their cars with care and respect and rather not it get ruined even if it is your car... honestly you are just too new to the car scene and are 2 fast and furious for modifications... i can admit that i was the same with my integra when i first owned it as well.. luckily it was during the time that i did not have a job therefore no money to mod.. during that time i got the sense knocked out of me and thought how wacko i was to even think about any of those mods... therefore no damage done and i was happy...
I suggest you spend some more time with your car.. drive it passionately ...
Not just that... spend time on forums and get a good feel of what you really like and what you really want out of your car (thats what i did)... You will be surprised that you ever wanted to do these mods
I just want to prevent damage that you will regret later in the future...
if you go through all of this and still want to do those mods then by all means go ahead since it is your car...

WERD!! Get a Neon Brah! I've got one those turbo ones with the Supra wing. Dat thing is sicker than FULL BLOWN AIDS! Screw goin' low . . . jack that shizz up! It's so HAWT and FFFRRREEESSSHHH that you might burn YO fingazzz SON!
To the OP, would you like to trade? ill buy all the neons in the world put it in my car for an even trade for the special caR.
That's fantastic. I would love to see something like this in person. The best I've seen was a custom wheel holder using a trailer hitch receiver. It held two 22's at an angle above the trunk and covering the rear window of a caprice. I used to have a pic, but I can't find it.
