Icon2 Bad Gas Mileage/Burning Oil Please Help!

Ive got a 2000 integra gs-r. Bone stock engine except for an aem v2 intake and a ebay catch can routed to bypass the oem "catch can"(located under intake manifold). Ive had the car for about 4 months. Gas mileage has been progresivly getting worse. Its started off at around 27-34 mpg (depending on how much vtecs were popin). It is now between 18-23. After gas mileage dropped off I hit the ebay lol. I installed a catch can, ground kit, new battery, ngk g-power plugs. That is all as far as the engine is concerned. I did a compression test today and got 225 psi across the board. Compression seems good for a motor with 160k miles on it. I dropped a quarter cap of oil down each spark plug and retested. I got 245, 250, 245, and 300(think i mightve dropped more oil in 4th one). Any ideas on the burning of oil and bad gas mileage? I've already ordered new pcv and fuel filter. Would really like to get teh ol gas mileage back up. Any help appreciated!

Just do a complete tune up; plugs(you said you did them already, did you gap them to .052"?, plug wires (go with NGK or OEM), distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter (yeah I know you said you ordered it), new air filter, check tire pressure (you would be surprised the difference this makes).

Also all those "vtecs popin" are probably the main cause of your crappy gas mileage and oil burning. Your car is getting on with it's again and mileage. Be prepared for it to start burning more oil the older it gets especially with the way you are treating it.

Thanks for the reply. I gaped plugs to .052. Rotor and cap are new. I COULD buy some new spark plug wires but don't know what effect if any that would have. Tire pressure is at 44 psi. The intake is a v2 cold air seems like a bitch to check but i guess i should. Oh and i have been driving conservatavly... trying not to get over 3k rpms but still at best getting 24 mpg. I know this car can get over 30 granny shifting but im just missing something.

yea i was thinking that. pcv is in the mail from RockAuto so i should be doing that soon. Pcv is routed over to catch can and then intake manifold so it shouldnt be too bad now

$5 says its cause of that unnecessary catch can you have! you have no reason to have that on a stock motor, your just contributing to unnecessary pollution! and i bet its causing you to run rich! put the stock pcv and black box on and install new plugs or wires if you havent, then reset the ecu! this is important allot of people tune up there motor and it runs like crap cause they dont reset the ecu and this happened to me before after a full tune up it ran like crap untill i reset the ecu, just unplug the ecu for a few mins and plug it back in.
