Icon3 98 Integra fixing driver side mirror

Hello Everyone

I have a 98 Integra LS, recently the driver side mirror is very unstable. I know by design you can sweep them back. The mirror is not staying in the middle lock position as before. I would like to know if this can be fixed or do I need to replace the whole mirror assembly? Right now I placed a piece of tape to keep it from moving as a temporary fix. Its my everyday car and this is a safety concern. Thanks.

Put it in the position it should be in and sink a screw from the bottom of the pedestal up so no1 will see it and it won't move. Or look for new 1

Try pushing the mirror in, it probably popped out. Or are you talking about the whole thing or just the mirror on the inner part itself?

Its the whole mirror housing, the top part, it separated from its base. I can lift the top portion up a little bit. Is this fixable, can I pop it back in?

I called the dealer and it seems there is a spring in the mirror housing that keeps it pinned downed to the base and they suspect that it probably broke off. And of course they cant just sell me the spring for it. Anybody out there ever work on these mirror housings? Anybody know where I can get the springs?

Take the mirror off the car first. The black triangle shaped cover inside pops off then there's the 10mm bolts and the plug and that's it.

You should be able to open up the mirror case with a philips screwdriver and look for the problem. It's not really difficult. If you can get a spring for a few dollars I think its better than trying to locate a color matched replacement mirror.
