I used an ITR fuel pump in my 91 hatch. The ITR pump is shorter and a few "mods" will need to be made to make the fuel sock on the bottom of the pump sit low enough in the tank to pick up fuel when the tank is low on gas. Its easy self-explanatory stuff. Ive had the ITR pump in my hatch for nearly 10 yrs with no problems.

There was a thread on H-T yrs ago about flow rate differences etc between the 2 pumps. I'd bet that side by side they are the same with possibly a few minor differences. I have not personally compared them side by side though. Compare part numbers from the parts catalog and that may give you your answer.
