OK, I'm putting my AC back into my car, the guy i bought it from took it out, but gave me all the parts with the sale.

I work on AC systems on Apartments so i have a good idea of what I'm doing.

My questions are:
1. Should i buy a new Drier/receiver?
2. Should i replace all the o rings?
3. The compressor is currently dry, how do i put the oil into it and how much does it need?

Then after this all i do is pull a vacuum on it for 15 minutes and fill with 2 cans of r134a right?

 

you should get a new accumulator,and replace the o-rings, find out the spec for the amount of oil for a compressor and fill it and yes pull a vaccum onit for 15 minutes and then fill it with the refrigerant

 

you charge by weight not number of can's yes you need to change the reviver dryer if it's been open for any amount of time

 

Alright bought all new seals/o rings, a Dryer, compressor oil and R134a today.

The guy at the autoparts store said to put 4oz of the oil into the compressor, then pull the vacuum.

How much freon do i need to put in?

 

when i chagred mine i put a full can in, i got it at napa, sorry not sure how much that helps you.

 

whoa, just slamming cans in there????, what if you over charge it???? it's only like 100 bucks, to get it filled to the right amount. not just that but you ghet all that air back into the sytem with the cans.

 

I did it for 20 and my ac is ice cold.

 

there should be a label on the core suport with the charge wieght if your using cans you have to do it by system pressure (not as acurate) your adapter hose should have a gauge on it

 

I would also recommend replacing the Expansion Valve. You will have to put the Evaporator back in(if it was pulled out) and its sitting right there. Only 21 bucks from Advance Auto.

 

what are you going to use to pull the vacum ?

 

a vacuum pump.
I got all the seals replaced today and put 4oz of the oil in the compressor.
Tomorrow i plan on pulling the vacuum, put in 22oz (2 cans) of Freon in the system.
Hopefully no leaks!

ice cold. so far so good, it was like 90 degrees outside today, and it kept the inside really cold.
