Weird issues with b17
I've got a 94 integra with a b17a1 and obd1 p72 ecu.the problem I'm having is cutting out of VTEC and hitting a rev limiter at about 6500 rpm or so. Also the car feels like the timing is off and gets horrible mileage. I just put a brand new obd1 distributor in it because when I got it there was an obd2 one in it rigged up. If you can help I would appreciate it
It was in the car when I bought it. I do have a check engine light, as of last time I checked it was throwing codes 10 and 22. There wasn't an IAT sensor in it but I've since put one in it, and I'm not 100% sure why it is throwing code 22, VTEC pressure switch malfunction because VTEC kicks in. I also have a buddy that has a 92 hatch with a B16A with the P72 running it and he's having the same problem, he is wondering if it has anything to do with not having the secondary butterflies in the intake manifold the GSR has. Does anybody know of this? To give a clearer idea if I take off from a stop and lay in it in every gear it usually falls out in 3rd gear about 6,000 RPM, then bangs out at about 6,500 RPM.
To give a little more information it is a 94 LS body, I believe 95 P72. I had to replace the car harness under the dash after I bought it because the one in it was about 1 amp away from making the car a human bbq pit. I pulled the new harness out of a 95 LS car then ran the VTEC wires and whatnot through the harness where they are supposed to be.
Would the computer be looking for the secondary butterflies on the B18C1? I'm not 100% but I want to say my engine has a newer model intake manifold off of a B16.
When I bought the car it was throwing about 8 different codes varying from the VTEC electronics not being hooked up to not IAT to an o2 code. Since then all this has been repaired or replaced. New o2, new OBD1 distributor, IAT installed, VTEC properly wired etc. I haven't reset the ECU since having put the IAT in so that code is still there I'll reset it tomorrow. If anyone has any input as to why its acting the way it is let me know. Thanks.
