Assuming you have a manual transmission, Honda MTF is best.

Can't go wrong with Honda MTF. About to put Torco MTF in mine tonight though, I'll let ya know how it runs.

Honda MTF is the best, as it was designed for Honda transmissions.

Just put whatever you like in there. I'm sure that Honda mtf is the best, but you can run motor oil in there as well. I changed mine out a couple years ago with some Mobil 1 synthetic 0w30 I had laying around. Shifting has been just as smooth and silky as ever. Besides, it's just a d-series.

you can't just run motor oil in ur tranny there are special additives in it. you should always use the recommended fluid which should be in the owners manual and if not easily looked up online

OVER 9000 to go with your turbo timer and 9" tach.

you'll need 2qt's honda MTF which will cost you roughly $20.

You can. It states it directly in said manual. Albeit it stating that you can if MTF isn't available, it's not going to harm anything in the short-mid term.

yes, owner and service manual states 10w40 motor oil is acceptable for the manual transmission.

i'm running mobil 1 10w40 synthetic in mine, and have in other hondas in the past with no issues.

I HIGHLY doubt that will do anything for MTF.

Also I must add that I have used 10w30 in my transmissions for years and recently switched to Honda MTF. I have noticed smoother shifting but nothing incredible.

We'll see if the magnet picks up more or less steel with the Honda MTF:

Magnetic transmission oil drain plugs are worth using. ( 1 2)

Ive always used honda MTF however i have some royal purple syncromax that is supposed to do wonders. If you have grindage issues use the synthetic stuff. Otherwise use H MTF.

First time i changed it i put in royal purple synchromesh, but after that it felt as if i lost acceleration because of how thick it was and my tranny was grinding in almost every gear. i had to baby the **** out of it.

so after that i dropped the purple and threw 2 qt's of mobil 1 syn10w30 and it shifts like butter.

I believe the Civic Owner's Manual say 10w30.

I would give the Honda MTF a shot, it's not too expensive.
