Default 88 CRX black widow body kit

I just got my 88 CRX. I have a black widow wide body kit with a fiberglass hood. The kit says made in Compton,CA USA

My question is how necessary are hood pins? Lets hear some experiences of cheap hoods.

here is what i would do. ditch the kit keep it stock, this way you wont have to worry about unsafe body parts that wont protect you when you wreck your car.

Ok Black Widow kit aside, yea, hood pins are important. I have personally known 2 people who did not use hood pins with carbon fiber hoods and sure enough, their hoods broke loose at the latch and busted their windshields, one of them in caused him to lose control and crash his car, which was a really nice Prelude, it sucked! So yea, if you have a hood thats not steel, i would use those hood pins

I didn't ask for opinions on body kits! I have the body kit already and I have a K24A8 already. My goal is to stitch weld the entire chassis and install a half cage. Then install the body kit. Then modify the body kit. I like the look of the kit but it needs a lot of tweaks to make it look right. It will probably take a few years. I don't want people to be able to recognize the car when its done.
The ultimate goal is a fast car with a unique look.

And this is how you feel when you start. After you waste money slowing your car down with 300lbs of fiberglass, bondo and sheetmetal screws you will change your mind.

have fun with it...i myself dont know what the kit looks like. but should be sick if you do everything you are saying you want to do.

Krxs are nasty fast.....FYI the hood will need to be cut or scooped to allow the hood to be shut

Once again I,m looking for technical advice and tips. Thank you Echo 6, and shocker911. Please give me personal experience not " I heard from my friend that his friend said his car was slow after his uncle installed his body kit with 3gallons of Bondo.

i hate to say it, but i rocked a CF ZC hood for about 2 years w/o hood pins. i would recommend them on fiberglass hoods because those things are brittle as hell, CF hoods are a stronger then fiberglass.

anywho, take off the kit. my .02
