I've searched but can't quite find what I'm looking for specifically. I've been having some issues with my 97 HX. A few months ago, it started sputtering and hesitating during acceleration, like it was backfiring or something. It still does it, but it's only if I'm generous with the throttle. I literally have to ease into it to prevent the whole scenario. I checked the spark plugs to see if there may be oil on them, there was nothing. They were burning completely fine, but we did compression test on cylinder 3 and it was significantly lower than the other cylinders. The car idled up and down, but I decided to change the spark plugs anyway and after I changed them, the whole ordeal stopped.

Today, the CEL comes on and at idle, it's back to hunting. 800RPM to 1200RPM then down to 1000RPM, steady, then back up, until the car warms up and it's less erratic. It REALLY bogged down trying to accelerate, even when I eased into it. After it warmed up, it's back to the original issue with a mild sputtering and hesitating during acceleration, but it's better. I've cleaned the IACV when I changed my oil and filter, so I know that's likely not the issue. I have to wait til tomorrow to find out what it is (I don't have a scanner...I have to DIY it. ), but I was hoping somebody might be able to tell me what my issue MIGHT be, so I can check for it tomorrow. Okay, so I just checked the CEL with the DIY here (thanks HT!) and it's giving me 14 (IACV) and 74 (random misfire in cylinder 4). Grrr...
